By All Means Brew Lab Phantasm DIPA, 8.8% ABV; 4.2 overall

Pours a hazed gold with one finger of cream-colored head. Beer almost drops bright. Great lacing & above average head retention

S: Citrus, tropical fruits & a touch of pine, melons once warm

T: Tangerines, green melons, limes & a little pineapple, plus dryness up front. Dryness becomes powdery dry as this beer warms up, plus pink grapefruit, a touch of herbal hops, plus a kiss of pine, & guava. Finishes dry with green melon, guava & tangerine, plus a kiss of peach

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, great balance

So easy to drink, great Juicy DIPA

...has a nice clear gold orange appearance with a lasting thick white head
...medium carbonation with the body having a very slight thin feel.
..aroma is malt, yeast, white bread, mildly floral and an almost sugary candy like smell. Overall the aroma is very pleasant
...taste has a mild sweetness which is taken over by equally mild earthy bitterness like both ends are represented but not to the extreme. Theres malt, yeast and a dry grainy cereal taste
...overall its very good, part of an advent calendar so its great to get to try something I couldn't normally find[IMG]

16 ounce can with no discernible date, though we received it fresh earlier in November, 2023.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 3/4 inch head over a near black body with a bit of lacing.

Nose of dark roasted malt, pumpernickel, and slight chocolate.

Taste of bitter chocolate, dark roasted malt, and finishing nicely bitter.

Good mouthfeel with near medium carbonation.

Overall, an enjoyable dark lager which shouldn't be missed if you're into the style,

    Cheers!!!

Prairie French Toast Brunch Imp Stout, 12.2% ABV; 4.09 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with minimal to almost zero sand colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: French toast, basically , vanilla, cinnamon, turns boozy once warm

T: Follows the nose, some dryness, even a touch of butter up front. Maple starts to surface as this beer warms up, plenty dry, more buttery notes, some vanilla too. Finishes dry, with cinnamon, Maple candy dryness/sweetness & a touch of butter

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, warming

I think I like this better than French Toast Bastard taste-wise, but that is an apples to oranges comparison. I just like the dialed back cinnamon but not getting a ton of Stout aspects here, but a nice pastry stout with the emphasis on Pastry, but not artificial or forced

Another great beer from @Whyteboar!! I love a good Schwarzbier

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Poured from a 12 oz can into a DFH Shaped Pint Glass

The beer pours nearly black with a huge tan head that slowly recedes into a thin cap leaving behind just the slightest amount of lacing.

The aroma is of black malt, coffee, cocoa, and a mild nuttiness.

The flavor is similar to the aroma; toasty black malt, cocoa, coffee, a mild nuttiness. Nicely balanced and very clean. Medium/light bodied and moderately carbonated, the beer finishes dry.

Overall, this is a great example of the style. Too often American brewers will be too heavy handed and end up with something similar to a Porter.

    Cape may mexican coffee stout
...solid black appearance with a lasting thin tan head.
...light carbonation with an above average body, has a slight thick creamy feel.
...aroma is everything coffee, black coffee, coffee beans, espresso with just a touch of dark bakers chocolate in the background is some of the spice but its restrained.
...taste is black coffee, coffee beans, touch of dark chocolate. There is some very, very mild heat e it there spices showing up but in a nondescript way.
..overall it has some rough edges and some of that is due to me trying to drink it fast(I'm really tired and shot from work in my defense).
As I slow down, sip, and let it warm up its actually a really good beer.
Its like a great dessert beer for those who don't like things too sweet. Like a great espresso after dinner[IMG]

Hello there, NBW. I'm back from Japan and sitting on my couch with a new beer, so I'll tell you about it. It's Field House's Mixed Berry Foeder Sour.

500ml bottle served in a smallish snifter. Bottled in 2022.

Pours a clear amber-purple with almost no head and very little active carbonation. Smell is tart, funky, oaky, jammy.

Taste is screaming sour. Berry notes noticeable around the edges of the blast of sour. Oak and funk is there, in the background behind the berries.

Mouthfeel is very light, super dry. Overall...this is a very nice beer, but you better be ready for that barrage of sourness.

All I’ve read are good things about this beer on here. Makes me happy to see so much Cape May love. I was out of beer and found some Longliner for the first time since summer. Drank one an hour or so ago :beers:

New beer incoming when I have some quiet time to think and ponder…not Cape May but also NJ; northern half.

Here's the dry hopped version of 100 Seconds to Midnight.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/44112/542125/

16 ounce can with no discernible date, although we just rec'd it two days ago.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 5/4 inch tan head over a black body with lacing.

Nose of roasted malt, chocolate, and just a tad pear and pine!

Taste is slightly roasty chocolate with a finish of a bit of pine bitterness; just a bit strange and I can't quite figure it out.

Good mouthfeel with near medium carbonation.

Overall, I was hoping for an improvement on the regular, non dry hopped version, but this didn't do it. Still a good beer though, but the Rakau and Chinook dry hopping fell short of my expectations.

    Cheers!

Here with my second to last from @beergoot via the barleywine/stout BIF. Malpais export stout from La Cumbre, my first from them. Thanks Dave!

I love the dry balance of a good export stout and I don't get the nearly often enough. This more than scratched my itch. Lots of roasty grain that stops short of the char sometimes found in these, letting some really nice semi-sweet chocolate shine through. Robust and lightly warming, this went down really fast. Loved this one playing a particularly bloody couple of games of Munchkin with the boys. I didn't make it:cry:

A pleasantly wild week has come to an end, and it’s finally time for us to get together and share beers with one another. Tonight’s beer is one I’m excited for, first time I’ve seen it in distribution down here and it won a medal at World Cup of Beer. I also join @CBlack85 and @bobv , a fellow south jersey native, with a black lager, also, speaking of NJ beers @HoppingMadMonk

Czig Meister - Miner (Schwarzbier 4.8%)

Attractive pouring beer, very dark brown but you can see a glistening clarity; light brown head, white bubbly and quick to deflate; weak semi transparent film is what sticks around, then just some islands and a ring.

Nose is flaky dry chocolate, sawdust like, light roast, and darkened white bread toast; both become more noticeable as it warms.

The taste is nicely chocolate, it’s very noticeable but also very light; the roast pops on the finish leaving me with aftertaste reminiscent of the wood I got off the nose.

Light body, but nice and full; medium carb, smooth and creamy, nice little subtle bite of roast and bitterness on the finish; dry, touches close to parching for a second, begging you to succumb and take the next sip.

A very enjoyable beer, my only critiques if I were forced to come up with them: better appearance and just a lightly more vibrant carb to it. Would take this beer over the top, it is still delicious though and will very happily finish the four pack.

    —————

Thank you Mr. Miner…just watch

    Led by another NJ native.

Martin House Cream Rich Cream Cream Ale, 6.0% ABV; 3.52 overall

Pours a chill-hazed amber with a pinky of beige head. Average-ish head retention & lacing

    S: Vanilla, doughy sweetness

T: Vanilla cream soda with grassy notes, a touch of graininess & a little dryness up front, just a little cornyness on the edges. Dryness, vanilla, cornyness as this beer warms up. Finishes a little dry with vanilla & corny/cereal notes

    MF: Light/medium body, restrained carbonation

They sell this as a combo 4 pack to mix with their cookie dough stout, this is the weak Brother, certainly wouldn't ever buy this a 4 pack or greater purchase. Doesn't stand alone well to be sure

Alright, back with a new one, and the grocery store/draft(read watered down) version of the beloved Griswald's Holiday Ale

    Red Rock - Holiday Ale

    No canning date
Purchased from local grocer for about $2
Poured at fridge temp into a tulip glass and let warm.

Pours a coppery amber with a tan colored head. Fairly persistent for 10-15+ minutes in a steady thin ring, with little lacing trailing behind. 4

Nose is really faint/light. Even from cold to warming up. What there is, is a mix of cinnamon, ginger, and clove. 3

Taste feels predominantly spiced without much behind those spices. Reminds me more of a spiced hard seltzer than a beer, but I'm also not terribly experienced with the style. 3

Body is light with some light warming-ness to it. Perhaps a touch dry on the finish. 3

Overall as my earlier observation, a watered down version of Griswald's Holiday Ale. I'd like to save some for about 6-8 mos and see how it ages for Xmas in July. 3

    Cheers friends! :beers:

Back to another treat from @Jasonja1474 for the BSBIF #1. Xul and Ology collab, Xuology 101. This is not at all what I expected. Thinking it would lean ultra sweet with the vanilla and marshmallow, it is an almost polar opposite. Macadamia nuts by nature are difficult to highlight as an adjunct, but the aroma hits you from a foot or two away. The flavor is a dominant nuttiness, with dark chocolate highlights in the middle, finished with a clean dry vanilla. The marshmallow appears to offer more of a mouthfeel role, thickening it to a nice sipping level. The barrel offers a bit of wood dryness, and a bit of spiciness, though I can’t quite form an opinion of the distiller. Very nice!

    Hardywood gingerbread porter
...solid black appearance with a thin dark tan head
...medium light carbonation with an above average body thick oily feel overall.
...aroma is malty mocha candy, gingerbread cookies
...taste is similar to aroma, very rich flavors come on string and linger.
...overall this is a way above dessert beer[IMG]
