I must be from Canada 'cuz I think I'm slow on the uptake, and had a tough time figuring out the 2014 bottles (they're filled with partially barrel aged and straight Darkness -- correct? So the barrel aged kegs are much fewer in number altogether?)

I didn't get a bottle this year, but my locals' phones were ringing off the hook as I watched the "Darkness truck" make its drops, today. I'd like to try a pour, if only to figure out why folks up in Hibbing are calling it a drain-pour... :grimacing:

This whole BA keg vs Non BA keg is very intriguing - So far it seems 3 kegs of BA have been tapped - and 3 Non BA by my record keeping... Thats a 50/50 split - far from "special occasion" kegs...

I don't think it's a mixup. The owner was telling me that he had to charge $10 a pint because it was something like $450 a keg. I didn't ask what size the keg was, but I presume he knew how to price beer.

That's a really solid price. I hope it is around on Friday when I make it out and about. Thanks for checking it out for me!

+1. That was crazy good. OC was pretty quite too.

I'm assuming the keg at Pizza Luce tonight will not be BA. Anyone know otherwise? I'll probably give them a call if no one knows. Really looking to try the BA version so I can hold off on cracking a bottle. If it's not, I'll probably swing over to Moose on Monroe...

How are those prices a rip off? If you buy 25 oz at $18, that's $2 cheaper than the 750ml bottle and the same volume. I don't get your logic. Unless you mean the place in general is a rip off?

Buffalo Tap is pretty overpriced on almost everything but the Darkness pricing isnt bad based on the bottle costs. $1 an oz for Ten Fidy is ridiculous though.

FYI: I paid $15 for a 25oz mug of Darkness at Buffalo Tap a few years ago.

I just love that this exists. Like dumping a bomber into a mug. Just wonderful.

Just curious, is there a better option for beer in the area?

What is going rate for the 750's this year? I paid I think 18.99 for one in my neck of the woods.

That's a pretty good price. It's around $20-25 most places in the cities it seems. At darkness day they were $20 each, limit 6.

And it looks like it's starting at around $25 for our friends down in Chicago. Wouldn't be surprised to see some increase in Darkness-for-BCBS trades start happening around Thanksgiving.

In general they are overpriced. However, Darkness on tap generally goes for less than $1 per ounce, unlike the bottle.

I personally wouldn't pay $7 for 8 oz of Darkness or $14 for 16 ounces on tap, when I will find it much cheaper somewhere else.

    You'd assume wrong. It's barrel aged . . .

Darkness going on at the Turf Club this afternoon at 4. I'd totally run over there if I didn't have other plans.

Another of the "very few" barrel aged kegs. I'm growing more optimistic that this is going to be the norm.
