Spellbound IPA. Best way to describe it is bitter as hell and aggressive.

Their pale reminds me of trillium also.

The one that really stands out is probably a one off from Whole Foods brewery in Houston. They did a version of their Hop Explorer series (VIII) and made it with hop hash. Man it was unbelievably dank.

Tom, I was doing some chores and I stopped by my local Beer Distributor for a short walk about. I took note they had cans of Lt. Dank in one of their refrigerators:
    • The good news is those cans were fresh: canned 7/17/17. So basically a month old.
    • The bad news is that it is priced at 16 bucks!! This is a no purchase for me.
    Cheers!

    Thanks.

Fortunately my primary bottle shop has the packs broken up so it's possibly to just by one can and they will probably be charging $3-3.50 for a can which I'll be willing to spend if only out of curiosity.

I'm interested in this one also because both the brewers and others use the word dank to name/describe it and I'm thinking that particular flavor/character is what I typically describe as resinous.

    Please report back your impressions.

FWIW when I use the word "dank" I mean a marijuana type aroma/flavor.

    Cheers!

P.S. I use "resin" to describe a resin flavor.

Probably NBS. (Next week, not tomorrow since I still don't have the can in hand.)

For a variety of reasons to complex to explain here I've never dealt with MJ so am not at all familiar with that aroma/flavor. But my tasting experience with pine resin seems to be broader and more developed than most on here. Again for reasons I won't detail but have a lot to do with where I grew up and some of our family wintertime activities, etc.

Nowadays you don't have to have had any experience with it. Walking the dog late at night in my subdivision I can flag the houses where people partake. Go to New Orleans on bourbon street, where it isn't legal, and people are smoking it on the street, right in front of the cops (they choose to pick their battles).

I could claim that I never partaked but...

The reality is that most of my palate experience is via attending concerts where it was quite a smokey environment. Much of our flavor associations are via memories of smell. I have perceived an aroma/flavor of petroleum products in beers; not from taste but by the smell of gasoline, kerosene, diesel, ...

    Cheers!

This is the correct description of dank - that is all.

A tick over 7%, but the current Revision Brewing seasonal, Leafy Greens, would be another suggestion.

Glad I'm not the only one! I've gotten a vaguely asphalt-like aroma from 2 or 3 different hazy DIPAs I've had over the past few months. Thankfully it's subtle and usually dissipates after the first few whiffs.

Dale's Pale Ale... at 6.5% the only thing separating it from an IPA is a name.
