http://m.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/02/hot-beer-anyone/385031/ Has anyone ever been (intentionally) served a beer hot? If so, was it any good or was this idea something that was intentionally heaved into the dustbin of history? I haven't come across a bar that does this but - as a fan of room temperature stouts, porters, browns, etc - I'm curious about other folks experiences.
There's this if you like mulled wine - heat to 110 degrees. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2958/30972/
I once or twice prepared Quelque Chose in the manner that it was intended to be served -hot or at least warmed- and it was very nice. But for that matter it's a nice beer anyway ya slice it if ya ask me. P.S. I enjoy Glühwein in moderation, also.
I've a couple friends make hot coffee stouts, using powdered cappuccino mix and whatever stout you might have on hand. Mix a serving of powder with a little stout to make a sludge, warm it, then slowly add the rest so it doesn't bubble over. You're also supposed to be able to make a big batch in a crock pot. Haven't tried it myself, I don't usually have a stout around that I don't want to drink plain. If I want warm alcohol, I'll have mulled wine or cider.
I remember when I was about 15 years old a buddy and I snuck one of his dad's Miller Lites from the garage during the summer time...in Vegas...and I can tell you it's not pleasant. Not sure what beer would be good warm/hot.
