Assuming this is the Basecamp location - if so, cool spot that I stopped at on a long July drive from NYC to NC with a broken AC and broken electric windows on my car (guess that was why no one batted an eye at the really sweaty dude stopping for lunch and a beer).

Did some of the research which is what spawned the idea.

Nice work! Always been a dream, and you have to keep hydrated on the trail! I've hiked many miles of it over the years, mostly in New England. Amazing accomplishment!

In all honesty, we can all replace elementary school teachers with just about anything

Sadly there is some kind of truth in this statement. :slight_frown: One of the many reasons I'm out.

I didn't mean replace the teachers.
I meant we would all like our in laws a lot more if they owned bars instead of whatever else they do.

Out of curiosity, how did you get to Bryson City from the AT? I've been to Nantahala a couple times after backpacking in the smokies, nice place, good beer.

    Congrats on finishing.

I actually had a trail angel, a former principal of mine, who has a mountain house up that way who gave me a couple of nights off trail, slackpacked me a couple of days, and we visited a delicious pub in Bryson City.

Oh, and the trail goes right by the Nantahala Outdoor Center...literally cuts through their parking lot.

Congrats! My dad and I hiked from Roanoke, Virginia to Kent, Connecticut and loved every minute of it, even east Pennsylvania.....

Congratulations! Hiking the AT is an amazing feat; I hope to get the opportunity to do at least a small portion of it at some point. Would be nice to do a little hiking by choice again.

I noticed this thread is a bit silent over the last few months and I wanted to see if there were any other AT/Brew Blaze Hikers out there? I'm a thru hiker in Roan Mountain and I man the taps at The Station at 19 E. We have 8 taps and pour mostly local selections from JRH, Bearded Iris, Black Horse, and Catawba but I have been wanting to do a comprehensive AT list/guide of Taprooms and Breweries; to be called "The Brew Blaze". The parameters to be included would be beers on tap, be within 20 miles of the trail, do they serve food, and nearest hostel, camping, or hotel. Thanks head of time for any suggestions.

Can add B Chord Brewing to the list in Round Hill, VA. Its also a short drive/hitch/walk from Bears Den Hostel east on Route 7. I tend to think its better beer wise, atmosphere wise than Dirt Farm frequently has live music but Dirt Farm has an amazing view. (Although if you are hiking the AT you get your fill of views).

Edit to my post above, the cidery in Bluemont relocated to Leesburg, still good but no longer AT adjacent.
