    -> Poll #9 <- determined that Invert Sugar #2 would go on to compete with/against the winner(s) of a Munich/Vienna malt poll.

    This poll will decide what Munich and/or Vienna Malt(s) will go on to a combo poll with/against Invert Sugar #2.

    You can select more than one choice. The #1 overall choice will automatically advance to compete further. Beyond that, any other choices that get votes from at least 30% of respondents will advance to another poll to determine the exact combination (if any) that joins #1 in advancing. Want something that's not listed? Write it in (as long as it can reasonably be considered a Vienna or Munich Malt). If your first choice is losing badly, consider jumping to a similar choice that has more votes.

    I recommend you think about this in terms of not only your personal preferences, but also in the context of the ABV and Final Gravity (and thus the attenuation) already selected, malts already selected, and fermentables still possible, as well as any possible yeast strain selection that might be kicking around in your head.

    This poll will be open for 48 hours.

    If you have issues with or suggestions for methodologies used in this project, please send them via beermail. Let's keep the threads themselves on topic to the question at hand and not about how you would have asked the question differently.

    I would vote none of the above but of the 4 choices, dark munich gives us the color.

    I assume Poll #11 will provide a "None of the above" option. I do have some concern that if the votes present only a Sugar vs. Vienna/Munich "competition" with no option for "none" that bias is being introduced.

    Not that I have a horse in the race. Just expressing an observation from a scientific standpoint.

    I'm believe that a subsequent round will be invert, or one of these, or neither, although I can get my mind around the invert.

    Going for Dark Munich here, as it might be a decent sub for Amber, if that doesn't make it back in.

    Just so nobody is confused.... there's no "none of the above" choice because this poll only advances its winner(s) to a combo poll (in context with/without the sugar selected) where "none of the these" will be a choice. Nothing gets IN directly from this poll, i.e. nothing gets in out of context. And the Munich/Vienna category doesn't get eliminated out of context, because it previously earned the right to send at least one malt forward for further consideration.

    Of the choices, Vienna would have the least impact on altering the beer I want. Ultimately, I do not want any of them.

    I figuered as much. And to be clear: I love me some Vienna malt. Just not in this beer.

    Hopefully we just select one to be shot down next round.

    I could see someone wanting Vienna, so I went with dark Munich, hopefully no one is dumb enough to vote that into the beer in future polls :slight_smile: Apologies to anyone who actually wants dark Munich

    We need to pick one of the four and all vote for it in this poll. As it stands right now, we would need a runoff of Vienna, Munich II and Dark Munich. I don't want to do another Munich poll.

    Then we can torpedo "the winner" when it goes up against sugar and none of the above.

    Agreed, sounds like nobody wants any of these malts anyhow (how did they get this far? lol). Let's get a consensus and vote for one that we can get rid of. Since Munich II already has a majority, I'm just going to vote for it.

    This was going to be my other strategy, but I worried that there could be a contingent that would vote for it if it was the option that made it through this poll. I figured if we presented that group with Vienna... well, see my earlier post.

    I think whichever option is picked will be rejected down by the vast majority of voters. The comments and level of participation in this pool make that clear. Lets try to avoid a runoff between Vienna and Munich ii and save 2 days.
