I posted the situation a few days ago.

I had setup a V14 Pre Trade for a Prop Pre trade. (Early November 2014)

    Agreed to terms

    2x V14

    for 2x Prop + 1x Vanilla + 1x VSP

During Black Friday his kids got sick and wasn't able to grab the Prop. A few weeks later I finally got a ahold of him and found out about his situation. He told me he still was interested in trading and would grab the bottles. A week later he updated me and said he got the Prop + Vanilla + VSP (December 11th) and will work on the last bottle.

And yes I know that trade looks lopsided in the current market. But at the time it was seen as fair for the both of us. In April I did a V13 for 2013 Prop + Backyard.

That was the last communication between us. Since then he's been online multiple times and have not read my messages. I talked to his friends and still nothing doin'

I am going to consider this trade as a back out. Now as a back out, do you still leave feedback? If so negative or neutral. This is my only question, so lets try not to get too offtopic about Pre Trades and values. Thanks guys.

Maybe he just wasn't able to come through with the last bottle? This is why I hate pre trades with anyone other than regular trade partners. I think it becomes very gray as to how to judge the situation.

I'm guessing you exchanged addresses and such? Did you try shooting him a text or calling him?

I was thinking that too, but then after multiple messages I give up. Just seeing if I should leave any feedback

Back outs are tough. I've never had it happen to me and I have yet to do it.

At most, neutral for lack of communication. I can't see a negative since this was for pre-trade beer and there is always risk involved with 'trade value' rising and falling.

Had the person you are dealing with simply backed out upon dealing with his kids and missing the release, this likely would have been an 'oh well - maybe next time' type scenario. The dragging it out, attempting to make it right and waiting is what is making this ugly for you. Especially since communication has gone missing lately.

Since no beer was actually exchanged I would say Neutral with a warning about what happened would be best.

I went ahead and left neutral feedback. Gave him an option of resolving it if he wishes. Thanks guys.

@justlovebeer I hope you understand that I felt like I had no other choice. If you had kept ongoing communication and not just left me hanging the situation would have been different. Even if you didn't grab the bottles all you needed to do was keep me updated. If you'd like to resolve this, just read the 4-5 messages I left you since December 11th.

Why would I change my offer if we agreed upon a trade months ago?

It was accepted by both parties. Now that the value has changed, so should my offer? That makes absolutely no sense. Whose going to reimburse me for the value of the V14 when it traded hot then? No one knew Prop would blow up the way it did. Prop 13 didnt trade as high as Prop 14 when it came out

They were both pre trades and agreed upon pre trades. He offered, I accepted.

You can't change a tune if he just doesn't read the BM's

Was there a trade request accepted? Shipping info exchanged?

Hmmm. Yeah, he definitely backed out on ya. I think the neutral feedback left reflecting what happened was a good call on your part. It also shows that you're (and have been) open to resolving the issue at hand.

I would leave negative, deal was made and accepted, he didn't come through and went radio silence on you.

I was so tempted to do this, but I was afraid of the backlash. He could easily give me a negative as revenge feedback.

Saw your post. Could do the pre-Bourbon County for a bottle if you are still looking. Thanks for your time.

LOL! I here you. Yeah the 2 x prop is not a problem. I think the Veritas is all I'm looking for at the moment, I mean if you wanted to do your 2nd bottle for the 2 vanilla that would be an option but don't know if you want to trade both for all bcbs stuff

Revenge feedback will result in a banning by mods so no need to worry about this.

So you think if someone pretrades and doesn't get the bottles they need to complete the trade they deserve negative feedback? That could have happened here for all we know

Maybe Im just a pushover but I wouldn't have left any feedback, especially since shipping info wasn't exchanged.
But I can see why some people would leave neutral or negative.

If they explained that, no, but in this case the trader in question just disappeared.

Until @justlovebeer comes in to explain their side of story I will believe OP.

I'm glad you didn't do this as I feel bad feedback would be unfair. It's a tough spot to be in with pre-trades. Neutral feedback IS warranted IMO though purely due to the lack of communication.

It does go to show that you should always try to be as fair as possible and your trade was a bit lopsided. Not sure of bottle cost where he is but Vanilla Rye was around $25 here and I'm sorta sure that it was at least similar where he was, especially for prop. By my count he was at about $100 in with his 7 beers to your $80 in 2 beers. Regardless of trade values, that was still over $4$ and you were still in advantage here. I see where he was quoting cost but I feel like he was probably being a bit conservative. (I could be wrong on pricing up there I know)

As usual with most bad trader threads, communication goes a long way and could have helped save his rep. I swear this is said in every thread multiple times and these problems still exist. If he did in fact feel like it was unfair, he should have voiced that to you after figuring out prices. In a pre-trade, things like this are subject to change. Also, based on the pre-trade action on these boards I feel it was pretty safe to gauge the demand for this beer so I don't buy that no one knew it would be so sought after, I mean it's prop for god's sake. I also disagree with you about the demand last year as it was hard to pull bottles of prop and there were tons of ISO threads. In regards to what you pulled last year with V013 is irrelevant this year. But I do believe you were in advantage on that trade as well. If you trade often at all you should see that values can change in a matter of months. Hell, look at Treehouse Good Morning! A few months ago you could get growlers $4$ but now? I expect to see someone posting 3x Vanilla Rye's for 1 growler by tomorrow (sarcasm but you get my drift).

And as @jrnyc said, he would have been banned over retaliatory feedback.

I'm in this boat. If anyone backs out of a trade with me I could really care less. As long as beer wasn't shipped, what are you really out of? If it was a fair trade in the first place it shouldn't be too terribly hard to re-post and try again in most cases. I am aware that I'm in the minority on this type of thinking. I can see why people would wanna leave bad or neutral feedback too so I guess it's up to each person. A lot of people start thinking they have that bottle in their cellar as soon as that trade request is accepted when in fact you really don't have it until you have it.
