@CraftE (Eric) and I worked out a trade (per his post) in February, in which he would send me a Fundamental Observation in exchange for a ticket to the Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival which his friend was going to use. As I told Eric, the ticket could not be transferred to him in Eventbrite, but we changed it to his friend's name at his (Eric's) request, and then changed it again when the spelling on his friend's last name was misspelled. Eric received the ticket from me on February 24, 2016, and told me he would send me the bottle shortly.

After not receiving the bottle from Eric, I checked in and Eric told me again that he would mail the bottle to me. Then, on March 30, Eric wrote back and said that his "friend" now wanted to wait until after the festival to make sure he could use the ticket since we could not transfer it on Eventbrite, and that if all went well, he would send me the bottle. This was the last contact I had with Eric. I reached out to him before the festival to see if he still intended to use the ticket (which I had already sent to him on February 24th), and received no reply. I also reached out to him on the day of the festival, and told him that I'd even be willing to work something else out if the FO had fallen through, and received no reply. I also shot him a message on here this morning (and e-mailed him), seeing that he was online, and he not only chose to not reply, but left the conversation. Eric also cancelled the pending trade at some point over the last few days - again, long after he had promised to ship the bottle and long after he received the ticket.

I've made every effort to be fair here - even offering to let him use the ticket and then ship the bottle, and offering to let him work out another deal if he didn't have the Fundamental Observation (which is pretty generous, given that I traded him a $90 ticket to FWIBF for it...). He is on here frequently, but appears to have chose to ignore the trade rather than resolve the issue. As such, I'm left with no recourse but to post this. I'm hopeful that we can work something out - especially since the festival has now passed, and since the ticket was not cheap.

Am I reading correctly that the trade request was never formally accepted, preventing you from leaving feedback?

It was formally accepted, in that he promised to send it (repeatedly). However, it looks like it was left pending on here, and so he cancelled it recently as best as I can tell. As such, there's no way for me to leave feedback for him.

I believe they have put in place a 90 60 day expiration on trade requests @F2brewers or @dmbforever can you confirm or refute this?

It sucks that OP got ripped off, but this sort of trade is specifically against the site's trading rules.
    As per the rules:

    • Trades must be beer for beer. No other goods or services; like tickets, booze, etc.

Regarding the expiry period if neither party leaves feedback, FTFY.

Separately, once accepted, a user can't opt out in a one-sided fashion. @Todd would have to cancel the trade and I'm pretty sure he'd cancel both sides.

Given the fact, OP, that you didn't obey the rules as written, I suspect he'll do just that.

@MattOC - somehow I missed that, newbie trader here. I definitely won't do it again, but I was responding to @CraftE's trade request (he had a post up that he would trade an FO for the ticket). Even if the trade is against the site rules, at a minimum, I don't want anyone else getting ripped off, and others should know that this guy posted a trade offer (for a very expensive item, and offering a very rare beer in exchange), and then didn't come through with it.

Makes sense @F2brewers, thanks for the quick reply.

Definitely sucks that you got ripped off, and yes it is good to make the public aware, I'm just not sure how far mods can go on your behalf.

Yep - I totally understand that there may be nothing the mods can do. I'm hoping that this is a misunderstanding @CraftE does the right thing and sends the bottle. That said, if he doesn't make contact, then I'd hope the mods can do something to make sure no one else gets ripped off. As it stands now, I can't even leave feedback to warn others.

If this is true, IMO CraftE should definitely be handled as a bad trader regardless of whether the trade itself followed the rules. Stealing is stealing.

Also, if you read between the lines on some of his feedback, it looks like this wasn't the first time he's had problems, despite the 100% rating.

@CraftE How about showing up here and telling your side of story.

One option is possible punishment due to him posting a non-allowed trade. Although both parties may have to incur that punishment based on discretion (I do not believe that @Danobold should have repercussions in this matter)

His feedback is 100% positive but less than glowing:

"Thanks for the beers. Hopefully the next trade will go a lot smoother lol"

"Package delivered according to the deal."

Waitwaitwait....in his feedback someone calls this guy "Wayne" but he gave you the name "Eric". Two people using one account?

Yep. I've been very fair honestly - even offering to let him work something else out (despite at least two messages that said the box was packed and ready to ship, that he just picked up the bottle, etc.). I also offered to let him out of the trade numerous times if the inability to transfer the ticket on Eventbrite was a dealbreaker - he declined and said he'd still go through with the trade (repeatedly).

@cducap - he always went by Eric to me. That said, the ticket was for his friend - so could definitely be multiple people in hindsight.

    Hey guys,

The ticket was indeed for a friend who backed out last minute. I was supposed to send a FO for the ticket, to remedy the situation I will send The guy a bottle of FO 16 for his troubles.

Shoot me another message and I'll make sure to get back to you.

    Cheers,

    Eric
