I am looking for people to chime in on very good barrel-aged milk/sweet stouts.
Lakewood Bourbon Barrel Temptress. Nothing like it.
big bad baptist from Epic.
Life is Like
American double, no?
I don't think this qualifies as a sweet/milk stout.
you might be right. get the pyre ready to burn me alive.
Burning alive might be a little extreme, it's just not what OP was asking for.
so you don't want a TheFlern smoked porter?
Barrel Aged Jones Dog
Edit: is it Oak barrel aged? or just Oak aged?
New Holland Dragon's Milk
It's not a Milk/Sweet Stout.
Mogli is an Imperial Porter with chocolate.
Revolution's Very Mad Cow
I've got one hanging in the cellar right now just waiting for the right time to crack it open.
I have had Cognac Sweet Stout from CCB- very good
ISO- BA Fantastic Voyage
You havent had it yet? Just open it, if you love it theres plenty on shelves still. If not, then its not worth aging.
Yeah. It's a double. Add me to TheFlern's pyre
I've had it a few times. I was given one as a gift a few months back and figured I'd see how it does with some age. I think it's great but wanted to give it a shot and see what happened.
Any and all of the 18th Street BA Hunter. All fantastic.
Only if it's barrel aged and the bottle is dipped in wax.
When I was first introduced to it, the name led me to think that it's a Milk/Sweet Stout
It's definitely sweet for a BA Double Stout, there's no doubt about it. It's a good beer. Not the right beer for the OP's question, for sure, though.
Burley Oak - Night Ryeder?
IMO it's more of an Old Ale-English Barleywine-Quad than an Imperial Stout that's been barrel aged. On the other hand BCBS and the variants are very sweet too.
Remy's Pappy says it is a double stout/RIS, but it really came off as a BA sweet stout
Ah BA Jones Dog, I've done horrible things to get my hands on that stuff.
Very mad cow is awesome but my favorite is 3 floyds cognac Moloko if you can get your hands on it.
Awesome! Thanks guys! There are a few listed here that I don't know about that I will be ISOing.
Where the hell have you seen very mad cow??? I thought they didn't make any this last year?
Sweet horizon is hands down my favorite desert beer. It's thick, rich & full of chocolate, vanilla & bourbon notes.
That beer is amazing!!!!
Lacto 0 Matic
ISO; sounds amazing.
Gotta get more of this as I broke out my lone bottle at our tasting Easter weekend
Keegan Ales Bourbon Barrel Mothers Milk Stout. Amazing creation, wish they would make it more often.
Already mentioned but worth repeating is CCB Imperial Sweet Stout aged in Cognac Barrels. Best milk stout I have tried for sure.
How on earth have we gotten this far without mentioning Williamsburg Alewerks Cafe Royale?
I completely agree. Great beer.
FFF Cognac Moloko
CCB Cognac Sweet Stout
Revolution Very Mad Cow
18th Street BA Hunter series
I believe this is what you're looking for
Black Xantus is pretty good. Not sure if classified as milk stout, but does taste like it.
