They said it will be the same price as a 4-pack of cans - so ~$11ish

I wouldn't mind six packs of 12oz cans though.

Why the hate on bottles? Cans are good for golf course, beach camping, but for at home drinking, bottles are great. They don't have that hype machine factor though.

Whether bottles or cans, I just hope they're more readily available.

4 pack of cans are $14 at brewery. Most retail too. At least in my experience.

I believe it said you could buy 1-2 cases. Seems like the only limiting factor has been mobile canning. They canned once a mont, if they were lucky. Now with a bottling line they should be able to bottle when they want. Plus Be Hoppy is always on for growler fills. This could mean Be Hoppy six packs at taproom most times, "always". The whole bottling line is big. They have been non existent on shelves since the end of last year. It will be great to see a few WT beers in retail.

I was able to stop by the brewery yesterday for the first time, great place, all the beer I had was excellent, especially the Be Hoppy. But yeah, the 'tender told me bottles of Be Hoppy and Red Rocket will be available as early as next week and should be more readily available going forward since they have a bottling machine and the cans were being done by a mobile canning company. I wonder though, with all the rage in cans plus the fact that canning machines are so much cheaper than bottling machines (I think), why they went the bottle route. Probably gives them more flexibility(?).

    Cans help with freshness preservation.

I don't think the canning equipment costs less. But the big determining factor the lack of flexibility when ordering cans. You can make a batch of labels for bottles on your inkjet printer and apply them by hand if you want to. If you're canning, you're looking at huge minimum orders, which is why you don't often see one-off beers in cans.

Well, you still have to get them approved... but yeah, that's what I figured.

Can't you just go the treehouse route and order blank cans and put stickers on them?

Besides being opaque, are they any better than a well-maintained bottling line?

    This is from someone a A-B (http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/members/peter_wolfe.740246/):
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/old-ipas.177842/page-2#post-2424890

Edit to add: Upon reading more of Peter's posts, it seems that most breweries do not source O2 scavenging caps, which would render their TPO O2 levels higher over time. So assuming the canning line is dialed in with low TPO, the canning line should be superior from both a light and O2 standpoint.

It matters to A-B when their beers are sitting on shelves much longer than Wormtown.

Is Wormtown still canning through Iron Heart? Or do they have their own equipment now?

I'll take my Be Hoppy in whatever format. Just make it more accessible.

Yes and yes, but the second yes is a bottling line.
