Anybody receive these as a gift this year or in years past? Received my first this year with mixed results. Obviously nothing that surprised me. A decent variety of Stouts, IPAs and seasonal selections for the time of year Seeing a few complaints about "old" beers, didn't find a single one in the lot but a few "meh: beers, a handful of 90+ rated beers, but more than anything stayed seasonal.
Never heard of these. Is this something that your wife/husband/other half puts together piecemeal for you for a bit of fun. Or something actually put together and sold as one unit at a store/brewery?
My wife put one together for me two years ago. She had some excellent beers in there, only one dud, but unfortunately I had caught the flu just before Christmas so I had to wait a bit to enjoy them.

I've thought about ordering a Scotch Whisky one from Master of Malt, but I've never considered doing one for beer. I buy too much beer anyways and have a lot to try already, so I've never considered one for beer. That and my relatives wouldn't bother buying one for me since they know I'd buy the beers I want to drink as it is. Maybe one year I'll make a beer advent calendar for myself.
