    What beer names do you
    think a gardener might like?

    I'll go with:

    Flower Power
    Daisy Cutter
    Dirtwolf

    Yours?

Ahh, I thought this thread was gonna be different!! I am a gardener and beer nerd, hopefully starting to plant in the next month or so.

My first time planting raised beds was blessed by Proclamation's Amphibian Days. That was in 2019. Maybe this thread will end up becoming my new repository for beer-related planting posts...

I’ve found my gardening niche with growing lots of tomato plants and making sauce (freeze it in bags and use it for next 12mo. for pasta dishes and such). Way better sauce than anything store bought in a jar that I’ve ever had. Other veggies I’ve found too labor intensive for me or I just haven’t had alot of success with (exception radishes but they are so cheap from the store anyway). I do have an asparagus garden I started 2 years ago so I think 2023 I’ll be ready to harvest some of that. We’ll see how that turns out. Oh beer conversation? I think any Grizette or Farmhouse ale/saison is perfect after a spring day doing some gardening and getting dirty.

Here is an easy one for you if you haven't tried...Sprinkle lettuce seed in pot or bed, dust with soil, keep soil wet and covered till they germinate, water regularly. You'll have an endless source of lettuce till they bolt and go bitter when it gets hot. You'll feel the same way you do about your fresh tomato sauce

How about anything from Locust Lane Brewing here in Malvern, PA? What goes better with gardening than a couple locusts?

I'm looking thru the beer list from Bell's and I see what can be called 'generic' beer names that relate to gardening:
Apple Ale, Berry Ale; Cherry Ale; Cherry Wheat; Chestnut Stout; Maple Porter, a little play on words with Mole' Stout, Oat Ale, Paw Paw Hefeweizen, Quince Love, Raspberry Ale, Rye Stout, and Wild Berry Rye

    Then there are unique others:
    A Bit of Heat
    Grapefruit Spruce IPA
    Habanero Pale Ale
    Homegrown Ale
    Honey Hearted
    Kiwi Club Gose
    Lavender Saison
    Sweet Potato Saison
    Sweet Potato Stout
    Thump Yer Pumpkin

For you gardeners who didn't follow along a couple years ago when I started a thread and conducted some 'science' using beer as slug bait and reporting the results, here's a link to that old thread:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/different-uses-for-beer.644904/#post-6992187

FYI - I had no problem with slugs at all last year and never set out any beer traps, so maybe beer is a 'lasting' killer of slugs. (Or the beer was so bad that none of those critters want to come back. :stuck_out_tongue:)
