Hey all, I'm going to be in Charlotte for work this week. Any recommendations on bars, bottle shops, beers to try or things I can't find in the MidWest? Will Prairie Bomb be around? We are hosting a company event at Old Mecklenburg but other than that I'll mostly be in UpTown.
this should help you with bottle shops http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/bottle-shops-charlotte.266944/ Other great breweries around are NoDa, Triple C, and Sycamore.
I recently visited Sugar Creek in the old Ole Meck facility. Very impressive and I loved the pale ale. You must go by Brawley's on Park Rd.
Salud the bottle shop in NoDa is also great. That and Brawleys are the only two I remember from when I lived there.
If you're going to be uptown, definitely go to Duckworth's Uptown (330 North Tryon St). It's walking/stumbling distance from most/all uptown hotels (depending on how far you can reliably stumble). They have 100+ taps (tap list here), and I think as many TV screens. Oh, and the food is pretty good too. They have other locations around the city, but the uptown location is the newest and I think has the most taps. By far the best beer bar uptown.
If you go to NoDa Brewery, might as well hit Cabo Fish Taco right down the street for a bite to eat before or after. Get the BBQ Mahi fish tacos and thank me later.
