I will be in Madison this weekend and would like to hit a brewery or two. Any suggestions from you guys? Anything specific beers I should keep an eye out for that I might want to bring back with me?
Breweries to visit - everything except Great Dane and Capitol. Stuff to bring back: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/madison-trade-ideas.348147/
Awesome! Thanks! Any recommendations on a beer store with a good selection of the local stuff? I'll be staying right in downtown Madison.
Trixies. Its near Karben4. Went there and asked if they had any pseudo; store owner brought out a very fresh four pack for me, even offered some zd that had just been sent up.
Go to Riley's great selection. As far as beers to bring back look for beers from toppling goliath, central waters, new glarus, O'so, Karben4, and black husky. If you have time you can also go to the new glarus brewery its a little ways outside Madison but worth it imo. Don't expect to drink a ton while your there but its worth a trip if you have the time.
Vintage, One barrel, Next Door (all brewpubs) are good. As mentioned, Karben4. Great Dane beer is mostly watered down; however there are a few decent beers at Capital and Wisconsin Brewing in Verona. Grey's Tide house in Verona makes the worst beer in the area. Of course New Glarus, but it is about 30 miles down the road.
