I use brewtarget, it's free as well and pretty good. Doesn't do mineral adjustments though

6 of one...half dozen of another (it doesn't really matter that much...except for the free part)

I've tried them all, PC and Mac apps.
The one I like best, hands down, is Beer Alchemy.
Great intuitive interface, very accurate calcs, and best performer all around.

I'm going to be that guy, and say Beersmith. I tried several free downloads, and found this to be the easiest for me. Some others either didn't have a lot of ingredients listed, or their calculations were off. Beersmith does it for me. The $28 was more than worth it!

Beersmith is a good one, takes a little time to figure out, but works great if you put in the time and measurements, and becomes very accurate.

BrewCipher is another that I think removes the junk from Beersmith, can become a great tool if you do all the measurements and such for your system, and will dial in everything about as accurate as I can tell.

BrewCipher for the edge of being simple, especially if you know how to use excel. Also, because it's free, and it works on pc and mac, and mobile devices. I enjoy posting up my iPad and getting my brewing going.

I started with Brewer's Friend (trial) for my first three batches and it works well... But then I tried Beer Smith and after a little time figuring it out, I think it is a better program overall.. And you only purchase it one time, not yearly like Brewer's Friend.

Great tool... I just used it for my 4th batch (a milk stout) and I nailed all my volumes, temps, etc... With the data supplied by the program. I also got about 10% higher efficiency, so my ABV is 1% higher than intended, but that is OK!

I really like Beer Smith though... Just take the time to do your equipment profile correctly (add in the volume left behind, weights, material thermal coefficients, etc...).
