Apparently my attacks at online bullying are bullying.

 

Yeah I’ve def got deletions with comments that seem out of line. But then figure it’s because it was directed at the original offender and then every related/subsequent post got nuked

 

My apology offered now for posting something that made it seem like I thought the hardship in some guy's life was funny. That was not my intent. It was the exchange in its entirety in the thread that was funny. Obviously I couldn't post the entire exchange from that thread, so I chose the meltdown rant. I def. should have chosen a different quote. To me the humor part of it was the guy justifying his tipping behavior, and all the replies to it , through a series of improbable, at times awkward, and very insistent posts, and I screwed up expressing that.

Obviously I don't think tragedy is funny, or find humor in hardship. The humor was the long series of missteps, and their reactions and replies, in the thread, as a person tried to hold off opposing opinions with an increasing degree of failure. I didn't mean to tag the guy, and I do understand it is my poorly chosen comment placed above the poorly chosen quote that caused this misunderstanding. I am sure I got justifiably roasted for it (didn't get a chance to read any post after the "not cool" comment) To the guy's credit it was one of the more memorable rants I have read.

My apology goes out to the person quoted and to anyone who was offended.

 

@cavedave You need to make a YouTube Apology Video. It's the only way to gain people's trust back in this day and age! [And it would make this "Best Thread of 2018" discussion an early contender for Best Thread of 2019! So meta.]

I'm not calling you out in any way, and at some point, I'll come around to genuinely accept your apology, but the mods "not cool" reasoning was entirely in line and justified. I've been through hell receiving hate messages from people, as well as the target of some pretty outlandish rumors that simply hold no merit, all fueled by that whole tip thread debacle. I was put on blast by a bunch of people, quoted all over the place, had my trade threads derailed, and discovered "enemies" I didn't even know I had, all over that stupid thread, and my until comment about not being able to afford lofty tips, and the things I do to make up for my lack of tips at restaurants, that I seldom eat out at.

I too, was out of line, in the language I used and defensive approach I took, but of one just steps back, and looks at the entire picture, I was neither the initial aggressor, nor the only instigator. And you're right, pulling my one quote from a whole mess of a thread with multiple people stepping out of line was not cool, and was uncalled for. No one seemed to focus any attention on some of the seriously cruel and messed up things other people were saying. I snapped when I was backed into a corner by some very trollish people, and maybe not-so-appropriately, let loose with a rant. That was my roll in wrongdoing. I acknowledge that, and have apologized for it.

The whole thing got out of hand, and there are several people at fault, and no one single individual should take all the blame. The thread is in the past, and shouldn't even be a conversation point anymore. I'm simply chiming in to voice my own public apology, and to hopefully dispell some of the absurd rumors I've been hearing, and to kindly request that I'm no longer tagged in posts related to this topic, and that my personal trade (and any other) posts are treated with respect.

I apologize for the part that I played in the aforementioned thread. I have put the issue behind me, I hold no guns, and I hope anyone else involved can attempt to do the same.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays, and may we all look forward to a new and better year.

I disagree that the mods were in line. They are just that, moderators. Snark has no place in moderation by it's very definition, and they certainly aren't here to be my moral compass. If I broke a rule, delete my post and carry on, but don't act like my fucking mom, especially after deleting my comment that said people hiding behind a computer screen need to remember they are talking to real people.
