Naughty sauce from noble ale works in Anaheim is a hyped version of the style. Solid beer.

The Bruery White Chocolate is a mind blow, but other than the chocolate it mostly tastes like a barley wine, rather than a stout. Awesome beer either way.

I tried that last weekend. Never had a wheat wine, but the mouthfeel was thicker to me and similar to a stout. The bourbon aging really brought out the white chocolate flavor. It was pretty mindblowing.

Had the Cascade Barrel House Oblique as well...I had the same impression about mouthfeel and a real lack of malty flavor you'd expect in any "stout". It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too good either.

Pale Stout was a common style in 18th century London. Just like a Brown Stout, but brewed from pale malt rather than brown malt.

I brewed what I called a blonde stout and gave it away as Christmas gifts this past year. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, though there is most certainly a social desirability bias in their responses. Most importantly, I thought it was pretty tasty.

2014 guidelines are up for comments, link is on the main BJCP page.

Lots of IPAs, haven't looked for white stouts.

I had Brunch Money from Armadillo Ale Works, its was a great example of a golden stout or Blonde stout. Lots of coffee roast and a light cream soda taste. It shocked me when I took my first drink, I could not believe how there was that much roast in a golden colored beer. When I looked up this beer before I got it in a trade an article I read said this the best selling beer in the Dallas,TX area.

This stuff is awesome. Just started bottling this year. Haven't seen it on shelves in a month or so, but can't wait for the next round.

While not a stout, James Bean from Allagash was a similar brain teaser, and extremely delicious.

When more comes out we have to do a trade so I can share this Clayton Bigsby style beer with @ONovoMexicano

I've had it too. Not sure it tastes like a stout so much as a coffee-forward blonde. Still delicious though, and definitely unique.
