I am embarrassed to have misspelled doppelbock in my previous post and it's too late to edit :slight_frown:

Picked up this newly canned Maibock from local Akron brewery Thirsty Dog Friday - very well done take on the style....and at $10.99 / 6 for beer packaged last week - awesome!

extremely disappointed in the lack of a plastic goat from the ayinger celebrator. rumor is that it's due to supply chain issues, but i have my doubts.

I saw today that March 20th is supposed to be National Bock Day? If so, Happy Bock Day everyone! My first time drinking Ayinger Maibock. Date code of L2321 so I guess bottled November 17th.

FWIW, I've never seen Ayinger Maibock here in Atlanta until this year. Just picked up some of the four packs of 11.2 oz bottles this weekend. I have seen HB Maibock before, but zero last year and none so far this year. I'd love to compare those two.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed the alcohol poking through. It's been a couple of years since I've had HB Mailbock, but I don't remember it being that boozy. One thing I didn notice about the Ayinger, I started drinking it when it was quite cold but it got better after it warmed up a bit. I think you definitely want to drink that one at a warmer temp.

In which beer? I can feel the heaviness in HB, but its alcohol is balanced by bigger malt than Ayinger.
I never drink my beer at fridge temp.

Yes, I agree. HB seemed to hide the abv better from what I remember. This was the first time I have ever tried the Ayinger and the alcohol was much more apparent. I thought it might have been just me being more sensitive to it, but apparently, I'm not the only one!

Hello Bock Heads!! I keep forgetting to cross post any bocks I drink, but will definitely do so this weekend.

I thought it may also be good to share that Aventinus Weizenbock has advanced to the "Sweet Sixteen" of the Beer Advocate March Madness thread(s).

    Info Here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...eer-madness-march-23-24-sweet-sixteen.671997/

Basically beers face off against each other till there is one final grand champion. This round Aventinus will be facing off against Orval, so bring your purple cans and bottles to support the #1 Weizenbock on this site!!

Yesterday (Monday) was National Bock Day? Well... I hope that everybody did have a Schoenen Bocktag!

I hadn't realized that yesterday was Bok Day, but I did have a bock nonetheless - A 500 ml can of Schneider Aventinus. Good stuff, that. Yum.

I always have to ask -- check the date code?

No sign of it here, yet.

It's the trucks we have to wait for.

At least... if @zid tells us he's got a code with a W.

I had no idea people were waiting for this beer. I didn't check the code, the bottle has already been taken to recycling... and I only grabbed a single. Sorry. For what it's worth, the Hofbrau beer finder shows this beer currently available at the store where I bought it (it was new to the shelf there)... and no longer shows Delicator or the Oktoberfestbier as available there. Make of that what you will.

Well, how did it taste? Melanoidin malty, or cardboard oxidation?

FWIW -- I've seen beerfinders say beers are available at certain stores, but found old stock. The local distro has already tried to pass off last year's HB Maibock last month. Fortunately, the beer guy at my local caught it before it came off the dolly and refused delivery.

    My bottles have a V.
L 354V. Which if I read the date code thread correctly appears to be 20 Dec, 2022. So 3 months old this past Monday.
