The other day I picked up a can from Sleepy Dog Brewing. Not knowing where they were from I looked them up and saw they were based out of Arizona, but to my surprise, they were purchased by Two Brothers Brewing who decided to keep the Sleepy Dog brand alive. I know there has been a significant increase in the larger beer companies and other larger investors purchasing breweries, but I was curious about the more midsize breweries investing in or sometimes even purchasing other breweries in different markets and continuing to keep the brand alive. Is this a good thing for the "craft" beer scene overall and what benefits does it provide to the purchasing brewery beside the monetary benefit?
A news release about two breweries here in Michigan is a bit confusing, but Roak Brewing has either acquired Right Brain or they have merged with Right Brain. I believe each brand will survive, and the products of each will be on tap in each other's taproom. Both breweries distribute in bottles and kegs. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...ing-co-to-acquire-right-brain-brewery.590020/
