Say you discover several days after priming and bottling that some of your caps aren't on tight enough. Can you save these bottles or will they forever be flat?

This happened to a friend, not me :astonished: Just kidding I fudged up

Did you figure out what went wrong so that you can fix it before trying to recap these bottles. If you are just several days after capping, I think you'll get some carbonation if you recap them.

Why do you think the caps are not tight enough? Are you forcefully turning them? A properly sealed cap can be turned if you apply enough force. Just want to make sure you're not trying to solve a problem that you don't have.

I use a hand capper. I always cap then spin the bottle 90 degrees and give it another for good measure. Good luck with your batch.

If they truly aren't sealed, you could theoretically reprime them. Sugar tablets or simply a half teaspoon of table sugar in each bottle would do the trick. Wouldn't be perfect though.

Not positive if the seal is flawed, but some of the bombers I used have an un-uniform look where the cap appears to be not as tightly fit on one side. In transport yesterday in a nicely packed bag one of the bombers that appeared to not be fully sealed, leaked. I tried just using my hands to press it down further but doubt that will help.

The top edge of a bottle should not be rough without noticeable chips that would cause you to reject the bottle before use. I'd check your capper's bell that fits around the magnet and see if it has come slightly unscrewed. Tighten it and then put some muscle into tightening all of your bottles.
