Looking for help on the beer in NJ and Philly.
I'll head heading down for the weekend with evenings free, I'm hoping to find the best spots to drink great beer.
Looking for bars and a bottle shop or two.

Coming down from Toronto and i know nothing about the area except we will be staying in cherry hill and my car availability is weak at best.

Will be making a stop at Tired Hands friday afternoon and from there we keep moving south.

    Any tips from the pros?

In Cherry Hill, the old-school regional microbrewery is Flying Fish. Their flagship lineup is average, but their limited "Exit Series" beers are usually pretty good: https://www.flyingfish.com/

As for the smaller newer places, I've really only had stuff from Double Nickel and have been impressed: https://dnbcbeer.com/

As for Philly, theses are decent recent threads. You'll see people mention that Philly Tap Finder is a great resource if you're looking for a particular beer or brewery that is distributed to Philly, or to check out taplists: http://www.phillytapfinder.com/

What style of beer are you looking for? Obviously Tired Hands is popular for modern hazy IPAs but if you like English style beers, I would hit up Yards for some pints, and the food gets good reviews at their new brewery location: https://yardsbrewing.com/taproom

One place I'm aware of in the area is Farm and fisherman in Cherry Hill. It is a solid spot for local beer on tap and some of the distributed NY State options.

From Philly to Cherry Hill could bring you right by Tonewood Brewing in Oaklyn, NJ. Very solid hoppy beers, but they also do other stuff as well.

I would second tonewood. Great variety, hoppy stuff, good lagers, porters, stouts, saisons, milds...etc. also go leafs go

Wegmans on 70, Roger Wilco up in Pennsauken, Total Wine for package.

Totally agree with Farm and Fisherman for awesome food and a very good local taplist. Pour House in Westmont has a big taplist and pub style food. There’s also a Chickie and Pete’s down that way now in Marlton. Sports type bar with good local taplist. Great place to watch a game.

Edit: Forgotten Boardwalk in down that way. I’ve heard the space is nice and have mixed reviews in their brews although I’ve heard they’ve gotten much better.

Monks Cafe in Philly - one of the best beer bars in the country. Pliny the Elder on Tap and a whole assortment of rare bottles including Cantillion. Great draft list with many fantastic beers.

Make time to eat and drink at Blue Monkey in Merchantville, NJ. Very close to Cherry Hill and usually will have the best selection of beers on tap in the area. Also have the best food in the area as far as bars/pubs go, in my opinion. A very easy Uber from Cherry Hill if you don't have a car.

The Pour House in Westmont, NJ has good taps, but much more average food than Blue Monkey.

The Mile in Runnemede,NJ is further away but is a new(kind of) place that has excellent beer and above average food. They are associated with some of the old owners of The Irish Mile that was in Haddon Township and closed a couple years ago.

As far as packaged beer, I definitely second Roger Wilco in Pennsauken. Make sure you go to the big igloo shaped one on 73 south and not the small one on 73 north. Tons and tons of local cans in the walk in fridge.

Also be aware that Flying Fish is no longer in Cherry Hill, but in Somerdale. So it is a little more of a hike. Tonewood is very good.

Kane's head high ipa (more or less a West coast style) is available at local wegmans and a couple other stores in the area.

For bottled stouts can't beat Bar bottle East in fishtown in Philadelphia. Plus you can split bottles while there rather than dropping $25 on a bomber.

Thirded. Roger Wilco always has amazing local can and crowlers selection. Best way to nab a bunch of local stuff in one swoop. Tonewood is fantastic too.
