You make a lot of baseless assumptions here. If everyone wanted to buck the norm and go against the grain, why would they spend time taking jabs at a beer with a 3.16 rAvg (Shiner Bock) and not one with a 4.73 (Heady Topper)? There is no conspiracy against your favorite beer. It is what it is. If people wanted to be contrarians and go against what's popular, they'd pick something more popular than a beer with a 73 rating. Life is full if variety and not everyone likes the same stuff. 99% of people don't care that SB is your favorite beer. But don't pretend we're all secretly closet Shiner Bock lovers who enjoy tearing it down on the forums to look cool. That's asinine. If someone tells you they think it's a shitty beer, odds are they believe it's a shitty beer. People come on here all the time and profess their love for all kinds of BMC products, I don't think anyone is too ashamed to admit they like SB.

It's a passion for a reason i guess. I just try not to let it interfere with my life...or the enjoyment of it

It also sounds like everything the OP knows about craft beer was learned from the Budweiser super bowl commercial. You've seen guys smelling their glasses literally "for hours?" Come on, get real.

I mean, this is in all likelihood a troll thread, but try harder. It's like it's the Shiner Bock of troll threads.

Ps - did anyone else see the BMC apologist above who berated us for spending a "day's salary" on Storm King? If a sixer of Storm King breaks your bank, you have good reason to drink something stronger than Budweiser!

Hostile environment? I cannot think of a less hostile environment. Everyone is nice to one another , everyone wants to get you drunk and on the very best beer in the world. They'll take you to it or even send it to you. I can only echo the sentiments of so many other who said it was not meant as an insult , but merely a person trying to tell you that you are passing up a world class beer that you cannot get anywhere else in favor of a beer you can have anytime.

BBQ corn nuts must have a genuine Bavarian smoked beer or you haven't lived! Oh, by the way what are BBQ corn nuts? I tell my family that I'm an expert, but they still ignore me....... signed, Frank Kominsky, aka Napolean Dynamite. Gosh!

Next time your friend wants to act like a total beer snob give him a quick slap in the genitals. The bottom line is you should drink what you like and makes you happy. I personally love some Shiner Bock and agree it has it's time and place.

I picked up a sixer of Storm King recently and I'm fairly certain it was around the $10-11 neighborhood. Well worth it. I just wish I made more than $11 a day at my sweat shop job in North Korea. My family couldn't eat the rest of the week.

I know, I drank a really good beer the other day, and everything became rancorous and dark. It was called KB something or other, I forget. Just after my epiphany I learned to love everyone, and didn't care if they drank beer or not. Just another day in the park.

A lot of newbies have come to enjoy craft beer, to some it means hop bombs and 10% abv. I too, enjoy Shiner, I also enjoy IPA's, as well as Pale Ale, Porter, Stout and various Lagers, too. Forgive them, they knoweth not of that which they speak.

Drink what you want. If your friends aren't OK with that or make you feel uncomfortable about your choices, find new friends.

Here's my Easter apology: I don't "hate" beer snobs. I just don't understand why anyone gives a crap what anyone else drinks, and why people try to "convert" other people ...

hehe good one! But one serious side note, it might be my carefree attitude and/or the sign of out times that people complain about prices in relation to craft beer. To me being too concerned is dangerous. Taking care of our personal finances is great but worrying too much leads to other thoughts which can also dangerous.

That Bar in Vermont is a great title. Deep in the future, film lovers will revere the zany actions of modern beer zealots. Matt Damon could not do Cary Grant. God help us!

Shiner Bock is THE BEST BEER sold in my rural community. $10 a six is the best price I can get on it. It's a thirty mile drive to get anything other than Shiner or BMC.

But all is not bad. I live in what used to be a dry county. We've only been able to buy beer here for six months.

Can't recall the last time I had Corn Nuts (13 perhaps...) or even a time I would choose them over other items on the menu. Back to the question at hand. Yes, you were wrong about not taking advantage of being in Heady country and ordering something you can get anywhere. I suggest blaming the Corn Nuts...

ISO: Corn Nuts that sound so appealing I would order them over smothered steak fries or pulled chicken Nachos

I went to a Spring Training game the other day with some friends and one ended up pounding some Buds even though they had an excellent choice of some great craft. Now we did rib him a little but no one got in a huff or belittled him for his choice because, in the end, choice is what matters. Choose what you want and enjoy it. And it sounds like you could choose some better folks to drink with! Just sayin! Cheers!

Bunch of Hill Farmstead stuff...guys, I gave the other Vermont beers a try, its all amazing beer. Heck it's Easter and I started the party really early. I'm a Christian man and want to say Happy Easter to everyone of all beliefs! However, the stuff I'm drinking is not to be dismissed as swill. Not you specifically, but why is it so hard to believe that they have Shiner Bock in Vermont? It just shows the success of the product to go from Texas all the way to Vermont. Here's another inconvenient fact for the haters, every drop of Shiner Bock is still brewed in Shiner, Texas. I consider it craft beer for sure...heck, certain craft brews in Vermont with quality products are brewing them in other states. Yet my staple beer just keeps it original and keeps it flowing...

Okay, you have a valid point, sure. I'm sure many of the folks on here pick up "The Bock" ready to buy it, but go into their little iphones and see the 3.16 rating and go woops and put it back on the shelf. Maybe we can just agree that the 3.16 rating is lowballing my beer quite a bit? Some of these ratings are a bit offensive when they state my favorite beer is awful.

I pretty much eat BBQ corn nuts with every beer I drink, that way my ratings are balanced for fairness. Look guys, forget about the corn nuts...it's about the consistency. Do you always have a snack or food you enjoy when you are rating a beer? If the answer is no then the rating is probably being pulled down by the food and not the beer itself. I mentioned that time I got sick from the goat cheese and arugula salad, I didn't blame the Vermont craft beer on that one... I'm actually being fair here by consistently eating about 2 bags of BBQ corn nuts per 6 pack of beer. That's the perfect ratio.
