Heading to Dallas to see a good friend in Mid March from NY and my buddy.. He asked me what I wanted to do because he wanted to try and plan ahead. He's not a beer guy per se but knows that I am.. so here is where I turn to you guys.. Any recommendations for bottle shops, pubs, breweries, good food? Also, planning on taking a day trip to go to Jester King.. Do they release information about scheduling for their harder to get brewery only releases? I did a quick search and didn't really find anything. just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks for the help!

It just depends on the release. Sometimes there's a couple of weeks+ of advance notice, sometimes it's hardly a week.

    "day trip" to JK.

You will hate I-35 by the time you are done. Good luck.

Unfortunately Andrew is right, the drive to Austin is a beating. However, JK is awesome. If you're trip to TX allows it, I would plan on spending a Friday night in Austin. If you're lucky enough to be there for a 500ml release, it'll be Friday at 4. Then hit it again when they open at noon on Saturday before heading back to Dallas. Even if they aren't releasing anything that weekend, they usually have brewery only bottles that you can buy to take home.

Hell, no point in being there at 4 PM. JK at 9 PM on a Friday is the best time to be there.

And, I 100% agree with you. Drive up to Austin, hit up Austin Beerworks or Hops and Grain, go to Jester King, and then close out your night at Pinthouse or Bangers/Craft Pride.

Next day, be there at noon, then head out to DFW.
