I am visiting Dallas for a weekend (February 5-8) with my wife and was looking for recommendations on bars, breweries, restaurants, bottle shops, and even specific beers to look for on the shelf or at a brewery. I would certainly appreciate any help/recommendations. I have been looking through the Places section about Dallas, but would be interested in hearing directly from people as to recommendations as well. Community, Deep Ellum (do they also have Armadillo on tap there?), and Peticolas jumped out at me initially, but I couldn't get a great sense of the best bottle shops and bars. Further, if anyone is interested, and depending on plans with the people we are staying with, I would be more than happy to meet up with some fellow BAs at a bar/brewery, and could try to bring a few ohio/midwest beers with me if anyone would be interested in an IP trade. This will depend on how much I can actually fit/check in. Thanks for the help! Matt
Truly not being a jerk, but there is a plethora of information in the first 3 pages of this forum. If you have any specific questions after reading the below threads please ask away and we are happy to help. http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...m-those-in-the-dallas-fort-worth-area.244207/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/dallas-visit.244095/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/dallas-december-19-20.239660/#post-3089874 http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/dallas-frisco-area.237646/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-ft-worth-area.236562/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-dallas.235370/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/dallas-area-help.233829/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ort-worth-area-beer-bars-bottle-shops.163257/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/growler-fill-ups-in-dfw.152393/
Can anyone help with specific bottles to be on the lookout for when I am there the first weekend in February? Will ba legion and the temptress variants be available anywhere? Will any Jester King and Prairie (bomb or noir) be available? How about Armadillo Brunch Money and Quakertown, Ranger Creek small batch beers, and Southern Star Black Crack? Any suggestions for a specific bottle shop for any of these? I did not see all of these addressed and was curious as to availability, and I am sure that some may not be out at this time, but can never tell how long certain beers will sit on a shelf if released to distribution. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Jester King: Maybe some of their regulars (Mad Meg, La Petite Prince, etc.) Legion: Yes ; BA Legion: Maybe Prairie: Maybe Bomb, Probably Wine Noir. Temptress: Yes; Variants: No Brunch Money: Maybe, but stopped production; Quakertown: Probably Ranger Creek: Don't trust 'em. Black Crack: No Dallas is big. Where will you be staying, can get you to closest stores.
JK - you will be able to find the standard shelf beer - none of the limited release stuff. They don't distribute that. BA Temptress - No, sold out the first week. Maybe trade with someone.... BA Legion - it may still be floating around, but you would to look for it Prairie Bomb/Noir - You may be able to find both of those if you look in the right places (more likely noir variants than actual noir) Quakertown - I believe that is a year round beer so I would think so Brunch Money - It is still sitting around at some bottle shops in DFW (as of today/yesterday - Whole Foods Lakeway, AD Beer and Wine in Garland had it....from another board) Ranger Creek - More than likely Black Crack? It was released some time ago so in all likelihood no.
BA Legion is supposed to have a second blend hit very soon, this week or next probably, so that may be out, and then a 3rd blend later, probably after you are gone. If you want someone will likely buy you a 4 pack when this hits and just goandpickitupformebro if you can meet up when you are here. Previous replies covered the rest pretty well. If you can I would try to hit up Lonestar Taps & Caps or Craft & Growler for some of the better draft only stuff (Peticolas immediately comes to mind) and you can get a crowler or growler to take home.
According to google maps, it looks like I will be in south part of Lower Greenville, near the JFK Learning Center. @saint0r and @aschwab Thanks for the specific beer info.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had taken a look at Craft & Growler and thought the list looked really good. It appears to be close to where I will be staying as well. Unfortunately, it does not look like Lonestar will be. Hoping to try to get to Peticolas, or at least have something on draft.
If you're lucky c&g will have Peticolas sit down or I'll sit you down or great Scot on, but velvet hammer is always a favorite and lost epic is one of the beat tripels I've ever had.
I'll be in Dallas area mid March.. Never been but Im visiting a friend for about a week.. I'm kind of piggybacking off the OP but more specifically.. Is JK typically available there? I'm sure it would be nearly impossible to get the few I would really want but any help in the matter would be great.. Would really be looking for Atrial, Aurelian, fen Tao, and some of the other fruited sours.. Thanks!
All fruited sours are brewery only, distribution for more regular line up has been much better as of lately.
If you want any of those I suggest trying to set up trades for them.. Jester King fruit sours are brewery only when they are released, for as long as they last.
