I went an hour ago to WF Arlington, $25 and 2 bottles pp

 

turning away from the CBS madness today I had a question about the Christmas Morning and Rye Whiskey Barrel GBS release tomorrow at Hardywood. The Apple Brandy GBS seemed to last more than a day but sold out by Sunday. Does anyone have any info on the Rye Whiskey Barrel and if it will last as long as the Apple Brandy GBS or will it go quicker? Thanks.

 

WF Fairlakes was $25 but everyone else was $29.99

 

Now I've heard it all Sherry's in Cleveland Park for CBS-first bottle for $50 and the second for $60 lol

 

$62 at modern. Hard pass.

 

The problem with this kind of opportunistic pricing is that their normal beers are only slghtly overpriced, but people start to hate them for this idiocy and never go there, even if it’s one of the closest stores. So they make an extra few hundred on this and lose a bunch of other business

Line at Churchkey for CBS tapping at 4 is probably 40 or so people deep 15 minutes before the doors open.

 

Less than I was expecting and with multiple more tappings around the DMV the only reason to line up would be fomo.

 

Guilty as charged, although day and location of tapping played into it. Churchkey handled the crowd really well.

No more CBS, about one case of regular BCBS at growler station with no limits according to the beer guy.

Honesty i preferred the $5 8 ounce pour of BCBS to the $7+tip 4 ounce pour of CBS at Churchkey.

 

In other WF Foggy Bottom news...

The Rum barrel aged Abyss should be in stock there already as it was to arrive this afternoon as the beer guy told me. Tequila and Regular was on the shelf as of yesterday, however it's downstairs.. (whether it's still there as of this writing I have no idea).

I did luck out in the morning getting one bottle of CBS.

Came back in the afternoon to see about the Abyss situation as the Rum was scheduled to come in and it reminded me how ridiculous the releases get.

Some guy, or probably I should say kid came in, and saw the last case of the CBS being moved towards the back and sitting on the coffee bar (it was just put there temporarily as they were just moving product to storage in the back. I later found out it was actually reserved for staff).

The guy actually got in the line for the coffee bar which all the GWU students get in on a regular basis during lunch hour often. The beer guy then got a chance to talk to him, and it turns out he was already in during the morning, and was trying to "score" another bottle. "But you said you'd have more coming in at noon?" to which of course the guy was like, it's one per person and we're sold out.

Jeez people... There's a friggin palate of BCBS around the dam corner by the way...

 

They had both abyss variants ar Calvert woodley and just the rum at rodmans.
