I know nothing of the style, is there anything anyone can tell me about it and flavor profile wise? The beer styles didnt help me much. Thinking about picking up Yards Brawler.

I'm a big fan of bitters, ESBs, milds and the like. Most of that family doesn't get much attention around here since it's not barrel-aged, made with experimental hops, or tout a double digit abv and sealed in wax. A shame.

Im looking to get into other styles for fall, winter as im not really big into stouts anymore. Oktoberfests are great but i need that variety for winter.

Yards Brawler is an extremely solid beer, IMO. Just not really that exciting, which comes with the style.

You will not have many choices for milds. Give Brawler a shot. If it doesn't click with you, perhaps a Schwarzbier will. There aren't many choices for Schwarzbier either, but Kostritzer is available in cans.

    Another "yes" for Yards Brawler.

If you can find it on cask even better but that is a challenging thing to do. I have had Brawler on cask only a few times.

    Cheers!

I haven't had many Dark Milds, and apparently no Pale Milds. But from what I've experienced it's such a delicate flavor, you really have to be in the mood for it. I struggle to pick out the toasty, bready flavors. Like a watered down ESB. Just really light flavor.

Had some this lunchtime. Despite all the variety of beers available these days I have found nothing I enjoy more.
I don't know what you've had , I was amazed at how much taste could be packed into just 3.4% ABV. It doesn't have any toasty/bready flavours , a smooth darkness , a hint of licorice perhaps. Gorgeous stuff.

Definitely pick up the Brawler, it's a great beer regardless of the style.

And exciting is in the eye of the beholder

It's easy for them to be drowned out if you're used to IPAs, stouts, or other big beers. On a clean palate, they are very tasty when done well.

Long Trail Harvest is tasty and could be considered close to English mild, although they call it an English style brown ale. It should be on shelves now.

I've enjoyed every one I've had, but I'm sure this is something that's done much better across the pond.

Yeah, definitely something to try on it's own. Not after 12 samples at a festival.

Tallgrass Pub Ale is a solid choice.
