Love oatmeal stouts, one of my favorite styles. Founders Breakfast Stout is definitely my favorite followed closely by Anderson Valley Barney Flats and Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. When they're available Velvet Merkin and Velvet Merlin are great as well.

Shocked to see no one mentioned Wig Splitter til halfway through the 2nd page; love that beer! Also love it's zero adjunct brother, Backmasking- although since they've started making Wig Splitter it's not made as much anymore.

I tend to like my oatmeal stouts on the lower ABV side, I think many would agree with Samuel Smith as being the gold standard (me included). My personal favorite though is Anderson Valley's "Barney Flats", it's a bit more aggressively carbonated and the barley tasted more roasted. If I were going to drink a stronger one, my favorite so far is the great "Wake n' Bake" by Terrapin. They also make some kickass variants such as french toast flavor.

Too many hairs split on this thread. Founders Oatmeal Breakfast Stout. Whether or not you think it fits the category.

Wait a minute, are you trying to tell me that this "Golden Oatmeal Stout with Beets and Chocolate" isn't an oatmeal stout!

You were right, this feels totally unique for the style. I love it. Unfortunately, I bought a single and I'm pretty sure our store isn't getting anymore :slight_frown:
