I feel these guys get overlooked a lot here on BA - a search comes up with no threads dedicated to them. They don't get as much attention, but they put out some tasty beers.

I have had their Finback IPA, Moby Hop DIPA, BQE Stout, Starchild Sour, and the Replicator Rye. All of which have been very solid. I have a growler full of the Moby in my fridge right now.

Seems they are working on a tasting room. I look forward to a brewery visit soon.

The tasting room has been open since the summer. It's a decent sized space.

I, too, agree that their brews are very solid. I think my first pint was their porter which I was excited to see (I've been saying for YEEEEEARS that breweries need to regularly bring back American Brown ales and Porters).

My one gripe is the price. Their kegs are more expensive than other newcomers. I suspect it's because they opted for custom barrels....don't know if anyone else has seen them, but they really are beautiful. Since the contents of those barrels is pretty good, I sometimes forgive the higher price tag - not all the time, though.

Were they the brewery that was formerly Narwhal and battled SN a bit on the usage?

Had their beer for the first time last night, tried Moby Hop. Maybe just my taste buds, but didn't like it at all. Got through 2 or 3 sips and that was about all I can take.

Had Finback Moby Hop DIPA at the NYC Beer Fest on Nov 1st and absolutely loved it! Went back at least 4 other times to talk to the brewers and sample more Moby Hop. Definitely one of my stand out beers amongst many, many good beers and breweries on that day.

Plan on visiting them this weekend to try more. Loving the recent explosion of great breweries opening up in our area!

Just got a bottle of BA BQE. I had it on draft recently and was super impressed--I think I'm gonna cellar it for a year and see what magic develops.

I see Hops Hill in Brooklyn have bottles of BA BQE for sale, but does anyone know if they hit Manhattan? I'm not interested in paying the markup usually placed on bottles at bars (if they even allow carry-out).

I bought a BA BQE in Manhattan a few weeks ago. My bottle shop only got one case and sold out the same day. They may have come and gone.
