Going to be in the Finger Lakes area for a couple of days, I have been to Mortalis, Other Half and Prison City. Any little gems I need to check out?
I was in the finger lakes about 2 months ago. My favorite, by far, was other half. There was a brewery about 10 minutes from there called Noble Shepherd. A smaller brewery, but they did have some outdoor seating. I had a flight of 4 and they were all really solid. The one beer bar I liked was called Beef & Brew. Really solid draft selection, plus the food wasn't too bad either. It's in Geneva. Most other places I went to were just ok. Went to Buffalo, on the same trip, and Thin Man was excellent!
A "little gem" we hit last time in the area was Laurentide Beer Company in Penn Yan. Very small, and almost hidden , but some well done beers, including a great ESB, if that's your thing. Also enjoyed Frequentum in Canandaigua...new place, good beers and a great, friendly vibe.
Here is an old thread to tide you over until others respond. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/breweries-in-finger-lakes.615957/
You should add these breweries the the database. I can do it, if you prefer. See link below for “How to.” Laurentide Beer Company. https://www.laurentidebeer.com/ Frequentum https://frequentembrewing.com/taplist/ https://m.facebook.com/Frequentem-Brewing-Co-112490587115468/ Both are news to me. Thanks. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/frequently-asked-questions-faq.444392/#post-5925779
Beef & Brew is excellent, not a brewery, and they carry a long list of regional beer. A little farther west of Noble Shepard is another new brewery, Birdhouse, in Honeoye. Their Saison is quite good.
I would look more at "other things" than beer when choosing other places. The Finger lakes area has so many great food places and so many fantastic views. You are already hitting the top 3 beer places, now turn to food and travel guides.
Ha...never even knew there was a database...never mind that I could possibly add to it, lol...please, do it...thanks
Okay, lot of options for you then. 1) Aurora Brewing Company makes some of the best IPAs in NY and they're about halfway down the East side of Cayuga. 2) Pantomime Mixtures makes some of the best farmhouse/mixed ferm stuff in NY and they're about halfway down the West Side of Cayuga. (Order ahead/pickup only here RN though) 3) If you go a bit past PM you'll hit a cluster with some nice stuff near Hector. Grist Iron is legitimately one of the biggest breweries I've ever seen (which is wild b/c they have no distro I'm aware of) but their stuff is very good, great food and a sick view of the lake. Then you can head up to Two Goats, where the beer is solid but the view is for sure the best in all of the Finger Lakes (and maybe NY). Bit north of that is Lucky Hare which has a nice, quaint taproom and outside area and some bangin' IPAs (among other things). 4) Just south of Seneca Falls is Fleur de Lis, which has a massive, New Orleans-style courtyard to drink in and their beer is well done across a range of styles. 5) There's also Fall Street Brewing and WT Brews (second location of a 'Cuse-based Brewery) right in Seneca Falls but I can't speak on either.
