I have seemingly obtained a ticket to Saturday night's session.
This presumes I can actually detect the person {visiting from Pittsburgh, PA.} who is queued up on late Saturday afternoon who has the ticket for which I have sent the cash. Oh dear...
Anyhow, I am astonished nobody bothered to submit this event to Beer Advocate so we could find it under the 'Events' tab.:grimacing:

People are assuming 2 year old BCBBW is King Henry when it's not. It's just last years batch of BCBBW kept in barrels another year longer. King Henry was BW aged in spent Rare barrels. Rare barrels were quite different from BCBS barrels.

Henry was aged in Pappy barrels

Yes, that's what @Drucifer said. The contents of the barrels went:
Pappy -> Rare -> King Henry
Heaven Hill* -> BCBS -> BCBW

*They used Heaven Hill barrels last I heard. That may have changed as they scaled up production.

I believe they used Elijah Craig last year for most of the BCBS, but Elijah Craig and Heaven Hill are both produced by Heaven Hill, Inc. so you're basically right. Another fun fact is the original master distiller of Heaven Hill is cousins with Jim Beam (which was used to age to very first batch of BCBS).

thanks for the clarification, i was reiterating the fact that Pappy was the barrel first. FFF

Heaven Hill isnt really a brand anymore, it's the company. Its like saying INBEV or Boston Beer Co, the majority of the bourbon they make becomes either Evan Williams or Elijah Craig, with several other smaller high end bourbons. Given the scale of the operation, I doubt that bourbon county is all coming from the same barrels.

actually everyone is right, BCBS is now a mixture of a couple different whiskeys, I'm pretty sure its now jim beam, heaven hill and maybe another one or two. whats used for BW I assume is the same mixture of barrels.
