Founders CBS 2017 Release

Happened to be at Dunkin next door. Would’ve stayed around if I didn’t have to go to work. Glad I didn’t. B ut, just left there a little bit ago and they still have some CBS.

 

There is definitely some truth to this, but ratings tend to even out. I think the sample size on Untappd, 1.4K, is a pretty big sample size. It would surprise me to see CBS fall much below the 4.7 it currently has.

 

Last year for the Lizard of Koz release (not ticketed), they gave the first few people in line some swag.

 

Anyone seen in WI yet?

 

Not till Monday in my part of the state (NW).

 

I've had this many times over the years and I will say that I am very impressed by this batch, especially at the volume it appears this was made in. The maple really comes through stronger than I remember and feels more viscous.

 

Your guess is as good as mine. My buddy said they announced it on Facebook that it was at 3. Beer announcements would be the only reason I'dsign up for Facebook. I'll stick with beer menus.

 

That was epic. Dude rolled out with I think 12 cases and loaded it into a Kia. The ultimate mule from Detroit. Odd Side has learned a lot since that release.

 

Really damn good on draft (which is 10.6 and lower than the bottle) with perfect carbonation. It’s so well balanced and subtle in my opinion. Not the best beer ever but really excellent. This will play much better in a glass as opposed to a bottle share. I rated it a 4.75 though would do roughly a 4.65/4.7 if allowed to customize.

 

If anyone has some hot leads on CBS in Lakeview PM me. I'll give you a big hug, feel like we all need one after the past few weeks.

Ha! I just saw part of his epic trip back and forth across the parking lot. A magical moment in any case. I also saw a guy passed out just inside the taproom as I finally got through the 3 hour line.

 

Just cracked open a CBS...it's delicious, it's great. But does the finish/after taste remind anyone of the lingering sweetness from Lizard of Koz? I might just be remembering wrong, but that's the feel I'm getting at the end.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying the last few ounces as I'm typing... but, I just don't get as much maple flavor on this as I expected. I think a little more as it has warmed, and definitely more coffee as it warms.

So much hype, and it's living up to it. Better than this year's KBS, which is saying a lot.

Also please Founder's, put this monster in 12 oz bottles too next year.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed it on tap. Didn't get any overwhelming sweetness here. Very pleased overall. Definitely much better as it warmed.

Classic read there for a bit. Love when the guy asked if he needed to bring his own dolly, or if the OSA employees would help him. Just beautiful.

 

Yeah, I suspect I just got unlucky with timing. Most places (Meijer, Plum Market, local shops) seemed to release around noon and I was stuck in meetings during that time period. Oh well. Seems like plenty of people got it, so good for those that did.
