Any decent beer stores or beer bars in Gloucester?

Cape Ann Brewing is a cool spot to hang out with pretty solid beers. As far as liquor stores though, no not really.

Thanks. Yeah, that is what I am finding out about Gloucester..there aren't any decent beer stores. Do you know where you can track down Dead-Eye DIPA in cans in that area?

Dead-Eye only comes out occasionally. It was out in January, so I'd guess we won't see it again until maybe March/April. However, the pub might have it on tap.

I'm not too familiar with beer stores in Gloucester. I never heard of any that has a great selection. Don't even bother going to Rockport. The town was dry until just a few years ago. Your best bet would be to drive down to Beverly and hit Depot Liquor or Bogies. I was at Bogies the other day and they have cans of Navigator and a couple other Cape Ann beers. You could also go a bit further and hit Kappy's in Peabody.

I peeked into Liquor Locker the last time that I was in Gloucester and they seemed to have a pretty decent selection, but I did notice that they had marked up Bourbon County singles pretty heavily ($9.99).

I'd agree that Cape Ann is the place to grab beers, although I didn't have a great experience with their food.

If you don't mind driving a bit south, Salem has a few restaurants grouped together downtown with excellent tap lists - Gulu Gulu Cafe / Flying Saucer Pizza / Naumkeag Ordinary. Other restaurants in the area tend to get really good beers from time to time (Opus, Finz, Scratch Kitchen). There's also Salem Beer Works, which is decent.

Yes, Liquor Locker is probably the "best" beer store that I've found in Gloucester, but that's not really saying anything.

Thanks for the info. I am currently living in Salem so it seems I am going to be heading back there more often than I originally thought...

If you're in Salem, I hope you're going to Steve's. You'll never seek out another bottle shop in Gloucester again.

Oh yeah...I am at Steve's weekly...and it kills me to be moving 30-40 minutes from there
