Goose Island Maple BCS?

I take it this is Goose Island's take on CBS

 

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought that Brooklyn was doing a variant of their Black Chocolate Stout. Oh well....

 

This would be kinda neat.

I'm guessing this'll be next years Proprietor's blend.

 

So I did a bit of research on this:

Barrels are coming from a distiller in Ohio called Tom's Foolery. They just got done making a bourbon that they aged for five months in bourbon barrels that housed maple syrup (I bet these came from Bissell Farms in Ohio). This means that they are technically fourth use barrels (bourbon/maple syrup/bourbon/BCS).

If you go to Tom's Foolery's Facebook Page, there most recent post explains the process the barrels went through (barrel #51 is in the photo, #53 is in the GI post).

If this is correct, I'd imagine the maple flavor will be much less than CBS (which is third use: bourbon/maple syrup/base beer).

 

Yes! Nothing to see hear. This is going to be terrible. Please look elsewhere for delicious beer.

 

I'm guessing a goose island brewer went to a recent CBS tapping and thought, this would be nice if it didn't suck.

 

Maple BCBCS would be phenomenal.

 

I want some maple syrup that was aged in Bourbon County barrels.

Its about time that Bourbon County got down with the maple syrup...I have been waiting for this my entire life! Its the BCBS variant to "rule them all"! Hope they put it in 4pk format!

 

Dark horse did this....it's pretty good. It's the only real maple syrup I'll eat.
