This thread is for Saturday...when you see timings of special releases post them here that way people will know when tappings are without having to go to every single booth at the event! This will be a great reference

Or you can put this app on your phone. I used it last year and it allows you to have a list of favorites, rate what you drank, and develop a To Do list. Unfortunately I will not be going this year.

It also shows special tapping times.

Thanks for the tip, Im gonna download it...Great taste has taken a stance this year they don't want to announce the times of special tappings because they don't want people to just go to special tappings and forget about other less known breweries. So I am not sure the app will have many times

My advice, avoid the hype, and find some other hidden gems that are just as good, if not better than all those hipster hot spots. Just one small example but we found this last year, it rivaled most any of the other timed releases, and there was NO LINE! http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24445/75343/

Good call, I was actually hoping that one was going to be there this year! I like to do a mixture, try some special hyped beers that I probably otherwise won't be able to try and then try some other good beers. One of my favorite beers from last year was http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1168/16214/

Haymarket was awesome. Them and Karben4 were my favorite "new to me" breweries last year.

Yea we usually hit up a couple times releases too TBH. Just wouldn't want anybody standing in line all day missing out on some great under-the-radar beers.

So the best time of the day to try some amazing beer while everyone is chasing Prop, Vanilla Rye, CBS, and likely whatever BA DL is released or something for the nth time is 3 PM and 4 PM. Noted and looking forward to trying a lot of fantastic stuff while everyone chases the tick...again.

I know people scoff at chasing these sought after "whalez" (they're not real whales for the most part), but honestly, waiting in line at GTMW is definitely the easiest and cheapest and sometimes the only way people will ever try these beers. I can say for a fact that I would never have had BA Abraxas if I didn't have it two years ago at GTMW; I can say the same for Napa County Stout (still my favorite beer ever); BBPt5 and Blueberry Flanders are in that boat, too. I could easily go on, but I won't since I'm sure you get the picture. I think it's ridiculous when people wait for beers like Zombie Dust, which, while awesome, are incredibly easy to come by in the grand scheme. I won't begrudge those people doing that, however.

I just don't get why people feel the need to disparage those who want to try these highly-sought beers. It means more of the diamonds in the rough for people like you.

For the record, I usually do a healthy mix of both (I did find Clare's Thirsty last year, and it was the beer of the fest for me, not to mention all the great beers at Dave's Brewfarm...gonna miss him this year). I enjoy waiting in reasonable lines because it gives me time to NOT drink. Five hours of drinking is a ton, and a ten minute break where I'm not pouring alcohol down my gullet is time well spent indeed.
