Are any brewers in Ontario brewing this style? I know that Henderson and Muddy York have in the past but is there any to be had now?
Google seems to indicate that Northwinds in Collingwood and Muddy York in Toronto have in the past, but don't currently. https://northwindsbrewery.com/beer/old-smokey/ https://www.canadianbeernews.com/20...brings-back-the-legend-of-bernard-grodziskie/
I love the style, but is on the harder side to find around here. Muddy York made a good one, but it is at best rotational. I’m hoping that we get one from Godspeed or True History don’t the line as I’m sure they’d do it well. if you are even out west, I had a very good one in Calgary at Establishment. Good luck and please share if you find anything.
Lovebird Brewing have Nina back in stock: https://lovebirdbrewing.com/ Here is a list of selling locations: https://lovebirdbrewing.com/#where-to-buy Not much help to me as I am not near any of the locations.
Thanks for this. I’d never heard of them before. It notes they sell through 4th and 7. I thought they had closed up, but apparently are re-opening. Im going to try to seek it out and report back. Cheers!
We have a really good one in Calgary right now, it's a pineapple Lichtenhainer (very similar to Grodziskie AFAIK). I'd be happy to send a can or 4 your way if you're interested in trading or wanna buy them outright. For context, I'm a BJCP judge and appreciate well-made classic styles and this one is really quite good. It also won gold / best of show in the 2023 Alberta Beer Awards. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/55802/496482/
Here is one from Bickford Brewing in Toronto. It's no longer on their website so it may be gone. It was a collab with Lovebird in Meaford. Lovebird's Grodziskie called "Nina" does seem to be available now.
