Why can't I find a lager I like. I've tried many but many of them taste like lite beer. I need a great body with strong taste

Helloooo, doppelbocks! Bold flavor and a high ABV that'll put hair on your chest.

You won’t have that problem with Samichlaus.

Yeah, first thing I thought of was to suggest Samichlaus "... and then work backwards down the (abv) list."

No need to go into double digit abv beers to get some flavor. Crack open a Great Lakes Eliot Ness.

    You're welcome

In California, I assume. As a baseline, I'd suggest a non-lager, Anchor Steam Beer. It tastes pretty lager-like to me and has a middle of the road full flavor. Try it. If that doesn't do it for you, tell the BA audience how that particular beer is deficient. Then you could get some guidance that might mean something.

'Lager' as a generic term is a family of different styles that are grouped on this site as Bocks, Dark Lagers and Pale Lagers (https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/styles/) but your reference to "lite beer" tells me that you're looking for a pale lager. Click on the link and check out the various styles in that category (American Lager is probably what you're wanting but look at all of them) and see how many in the 'most popular' ranked list for each style are available to you. Then begin trying them until you hit the jackpot.

@maskedman, since you live in California permit me to suggest Trumer Pilsner to you as a first beer to try.

There are many other lagers out there that do not taste like Lite Beer so this will be a great journey for you.

    Cheers!

But it *is* a lager -- brewed with a bottom fermenting yeast, but at higher temperature than the usual lager, then lagered in the usual manner for smoothness.

You’ve been a member of this site for a long time. Assuming there are other beers you’re happy to spend money on (full-bodied and strong flavored beers), why do you feel the need to specifically find a lager you like if you’ve already tried many and didn’t care for any of them? (Genuine question, not trying to be rude)

Celebrator Doppelbock and weinstephaner Korbinian are two lagers that no one should call light.

@JackHorzempa recommended a pilsner, so that reminded me to put on my Mr. Obvious hat. STS Pils from Russian River is a no-brainer if you see it anywhere.

Depends to a large extent on what you consider strong taste. Tell us what you like and perhaps we could narrow the choice.
