Hey guys, Everyone knows of a local beer that he/she believes would be insanely popular if it reached a larger audience. For instance, one may know of a really good seasonal ale that is only unpopular because of distribution limitations. Or, one may live near a brewery that produces a lauded style of beer, such as a DIPA, that rivals others in its class but owing to production costs isn't distributed to a larger audience. For whatever reason, many great micro-beers never become as popular as you think they should. For me, this beer is Williamsburg Alewerks Pumpkin Ale, a seasonal ale that - while 4th on the list of Pumpkin ales - should, IMO, be #1. I've had Schlafly's pumpkin and one of the other Cigar City pumpkin ales, and they don't even approximate Alewerks's. Do you feel this way about any local brews? If so, are they listed on BA?
lol, you're welcome to comment on other threads as well. On a side note, I recently had the beer shown in your avatar (Cigar City one just came to Richmond). Good stuff.
Had it in Virginia. Talk about a perfectly balanced IPA. Will be getting it again - totally drinkable.
Tioga Sequoia's Rush Hour Amazing IMO http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24748/116213/ Its a local brewery where I live
Cool! Love a good milk stout. A guy also posted a really long review of it, so it might be worth a shot if someone was that excited over it.
The Heady Topper I just hid in the cooler at work could be considered a hidden treasure, I guess. Maybe I should bury it... eh, better not.
Got to agree with OP about Williamsburg Alewerks Pumpkin Ale, it's head and shoulders above most pumpkin beers.
