An APA recipe says it calls for a 60 minute boil but has a hop schedule that starts at 90 minutes. Its a Citra brew with hops added at 90, 15, 10, 5 and 1. Would this be a typo? Should start at 60 ?
It could be a typo. Or it could be a recipe written by someone who originally was planning to do a 90 minute boil but later decided on 60 and never adjusted the hops. If I were you, I'd pop it into the brewing software of your choice and see if you like the IBUs predicted. The difference in utilization (bittering) between 60 and 90 minutes is not huge, but it could matter, depending on your goals.
A very popular one is Beersmith. You can download a free trial I think. I like BrewCipher, but I am biased... http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/brewcipher-3-5.241761/ It's free, as long as you have Excel or download Apache OpenOffice (also free).
A free online recipe calculator here: http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/calculator Cheers!
The difference in hop utilization between 60 minutes and 90 minutes is about 7% (Tinseth model). In most cases this won't make much difference.
