Since beginning my journey into craft beer, I thought I'd found my perfect taste in porter and stouts. I didn't like hoppy beers at all. Then one of my more experienced friends said, "You're gonna like hops one day." Well, he was right. Since trying out DIPA's and more citrus-y IPA's, my tastes have expanded way more than I ever thought. Now I'm braving the world of sours. Have many of you BA's discovered your taste buds adjusting to better beers?
I think my taste buds are the same. That said, if your asking if your taste in types of beer has changed over the years, then I can understand your question. The answer is complex, but simple. I hated BMC lagers and still do. I could though live with Miller lite If I had to because frankly its beer and for years it was all I could get at bars I could live with. Since I could only visit Europe I was stuck with imports, etc. Still I always enjoyed dark beer the best and I still prefer it, even after 40+ years of drinking GOOD BEER. I leaned to enjoy sours, and other types of beer, but I still cannot drink pure hop bombs and I never will. I hate pumpkin and most fruit beers, and not a big fan of super smokey beer either. and trust me I tried and tried and tried to like them. YMMV, just my 2c.
My beer taste is always in a state of flux. Generally speaking if I'm just drinking for the sake of sitting around having beers then I have kind of my "usuals." But sometimes I become bored with them. But other beers, for me, are "sippers." Then I may acquire a taste.
