Blushing Monk. From the descriptions I had heard, I was pretty excited to get my hands on a bottle. Not that I found it bad by any means, but it wasn't anything where I felt the need to rush out and pick up another bottle.

I will never forget my profound disappointment having Prop 2013. I mean it's still a 4.5ish, but when you expect "THE BEST BEER EVER omgomgomg", it's disappointing. The few whales I've come across have never been worth the effort or money. I love how @DarkerTheBetter put it: This is a natural consequence of whale chasing. If you're satisfied with a beer before you take your first sip, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

    Maple Bacon Coffee Porter.

Not enough maple to offset the bitter coffee and smoke flavors. Shared with 2 other guys who didn't want to hurt my feelings and tell me they felt the same way until after I gave my opinion later in the day that I was disappointed.

I didn't care for Chocolate Rain but the three guys I was drinking with figured there was something wrong with me.

I recently had both for the first time (both on tap). Nelson > Duet and is damn tasty.

if you don't like it, you don't like it...but you're clearly insane lol. I think the honey aspect can turn people off to it. No wrong answers when it comes to tastebuds

Got to try the Alpine offerings recently because of the increased production. They were tasty but not as good as advertised, I would chalk this up to the locals and whoever had access to it(trade or whatever) hyping it up because of the previous limited availability. A nice beer that few have access to will always get better reviews than a great one with wide distribution. Dirtwolf/Sucks was better than anything I've had from Alpine and I don't blame Green Flash for that, just the hype.

Start from about here and get your popcorn ready concerning Alpine/Green Flash. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/alpine-brewing-thread.215325/page-10

But to answer your question, pretty much everything I've tried from Societe has just been OK. I think I've reviewed two and had six or seven altogether (rated on Untappd) and nothing has made me want to have more. Maybe The Roustabout, but that's the only one close.

I liked it, but it just wasn't mind-blowing. I am going to give it another shot next year.

Hunter Vanilla for sure. I know it's supposed to be a milk stout but for hyped it is I definitely expected more. Too watery and I didn't get much vanilla out of it. Shame cause I was really excited to drink it. Thankfully I didn't trade for it.
I love Rare Barrel but the Cosmic Dust I opened at a share a month ago was just bad. It had no carb and tasted as though I left it uncapped overnight.

sounds like me the first time I had it. 2013/14 was good not great...2014/15 blew me away. Not sure I can attribute this to variance in batches from year to year or growth of my taste buds and appreciation for a great beer. I usually give a beer a fighting chance by trying it at least 2 consecutive years. You never know when a brewer will tweek the recipe, aka; new hollands mad hatter

I was a bit disappointed by this year's KBS-the only year in which I've tried. I thought that FBS was way better (for one, the coffee was detectable). For such a sought-after beer, I expected a bit more. I'll take a Breakfast Stout over a Kentucky Breakfast Stout any day..sh*t is delicious.

I've noticed with Alpine beers that after just a few days, the beer's quality falls off big time, especially nelson and duet.

The Alpine that arrived in VT was over 6 months old and brewed by green flash. It tasted exactly like you described. The whole bar was disappointed. The Alpine I had at the Alpine brewery was absolutely amazing.
