I'll be in mccall idaho for about a week on family vacation and am wondering what to look for out there. It looks like there are a couple breweries in town that I'll check out but I'm curious what some of the go to bottles/cans are that will be easy to find. Any recommendations are welcome!

Are you ONLY going to be in McCall?

McCall and Broken Horn are both only okay. Salmon River is IMO the best brewery in town by a mile.

Both of the bigger grocery stores have the best bottle selections, but be wary of old bottles, in particular IPA's of course.

Surprisingly the best beer selection at a restaurant is at "The Sushi Bar".

And the sushi is phenomenal... I know, I know, "Sushi in McCall?" But seriously, awesome.

The owner of The Sushi Bar is a serious beer guy and one of the original members over on RB. I know that he had on draft BA Bigfoot recently. I've had draft Mephistopheles there once and Enjoy By a couple times. He also keeps a pretty curated bottle list.

If you make it anyplace else, message me directly or tag me in this thread so I see it has been updated... I will do my best to offer good advice.

Who is @JohnGalt1? haha thanks for the info man. I'll be flying into boise but heading straight up to Mccall and will be at the mercy of the rest of my family plans as I won't have my own vehicle or anything. I will certainly check out the sushi place as well as salmon river. What are some of the better statewide Idaho breweries (not just Mccall)? Looking for recommendations on IPAs/pales as well as anything that will go well with being out on the water and in the sun. Also any other Northwest breweries that distribute there but I'm not likely to have experienced in Indiana. Cheers

Sockeye and Payette should be all over in cans and in draft in bars. Sockeye's session IPA is legit. Boise Brewing is draft only and generally good stuff.

My favorite Boise brewer is Woodland Empire.... They just released a white peach Berliner that is proper and world class... But it is draft only.

Despite 10 Barrel being an InBev product now, many of their beers are pretty good. Try Swill, but don't buy a whole 6-pack until you know whether or not you can stomach it.... It is a pretty sweet grapefruit radler. 10 Barrel's Joe IPA is pretty good too.

Most grocery stores have growler stations.

The following is "if you end up stopping in downtown."

Best bottle selections in Boise if you want to make a quick stop are at the Boise Community Food Coop (only 4x short blocks north of the capitol in downtown) and the Whole Foods at Front and Broadway.

Whole Foods also fills growlers up stairs.

PreFunk has like 40+ beers available to go for growler fills... It is also on Front and right next door to Woodland Empire.... It is at the opposite end of downtown from Whole Foods, but is literally like 2x minutes by car.

Bittercreek is in downtown Boise on 8th... fantastic taplist pretty much all the time and a bunch of cool older bottles available to go... Great pub-food with a hard emphasis on local.

I'll add some PNW stuff when I get a little time to think about it.

Barley Browns is draft/growler only... It is out of Baker City, Oregon and makes some of the best IPA's and DIPA's in the country.... No Joke.
