I didn’t care for last year’s. I thought it was too sweet and was considering passing on this year’s until I saw they backed the ABV down to 7.2% from 7.7%, which seems to have tamed the sweetness. It’s not 2016, but it seems closer than last year’s version or 2017. This year’s is a return to form IMO.

Other fresh hop ales are dropping. I'm drinking a Fremont Field to Fermenter (Citra & Amarillo) canned on 9/24. Quite tasty at 6%.

I had a BY on draft this past Saturday and agree with other posters that is tasted very astringent. It was hard to finish the glass. I won't be buying any of this.
Fremont, on the other hand, is killing it with their fresh hop series, they are precisely what I desire in a fresh hop beer.

People complaining about IPAs that are 2 weeks old shows how the haze craze has totally impacted (ruined, IMO) a lot of beer drinkers.

I snagged some Born Yesteray this week and I think it's amazing. Knowing Lagunitas and being around beer for a long time, I'd be willing to bet that the VAST majority of beer drinkers wouldn't tell the difference in this beer at 2, 14 or 25 days, unless they were just looking for it to be the next hazy IPA (it's not).

You may be right that the "VAST majority" would not notice a difference but I purchased a 6-pack that was packaged on 10/7 a week ago and I discussed my first bottle last Thursday (10/17). I had my second bottle over this past weekend and I have noticed a difference in those two beers (note: the beers have been stored cold in my refrigerator). This second bottle had a noticeable onion character that was absent in the first bottle.

If you are a 'member' of the "VAST majority" this evolution of the flavor profile is not big deal.

    Cheers!

Is this beer 100% wet hops? To me it tastes like they use hop extract in there too.

i assume all lagunitas' beers use hop extract. I don't know if it's true but it's my operating assumption

I don't know what the haze craze has to do with is. Clearly you missed the entire point of this beer. It's called "Born Yesterday". They originally tried to get it on shelves the very next day after bottling. Being on the east coast, we were never that lucky but did manage to get it 2 or 3 days old in year's past. Which was incredible. Now it seems like they abandoned that whole idea, which is a little disappointing.

And I'm sorry but if your palate can't tell the difference between 2 days and 25 days with a fresh hop IPA like this, then I can't help you.

Yeah, I had my first bottle about 7 days after bottling and had my next to last one last night (about 15 days). It has dropped/changed a little in flavor. It really bothers me that they can't seem to get it everywhere within a couple days like they did with the 2016 version.

Founders Harvest Ale is even worse, where it seems to show up 3 to 4 weeks later for many markets for the last few years. I had already decided not to buy it for that reason even before the lawsuit shitstorm of the last couple days.

And note that I am not this picky about standard IPAs, where I simply aim for less than 2 months. But for Wet Hops, they should really be drank within 2 weeks of bottling/canning.

    I'm looking forward to - possibly - scoring a sixpack of Born a Little Over a Fortnight Ago...(if I'm lucky? :slight_frown:).

I picked up two more sixers, so we’ll see how they age over the next two or three weeks before Celebration hits my area.

Speaking of fresh and wet hops I saw Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere the other day but it's a pricey one in my area ($14.99, and that was at a store in my area that has the more reasonable prices). I passed because I remember drinking a bomber of it years ago and liking but not loving it...I will keep an eye out for a single.

@Kb024 just discussed this beer in the Sierra Nevada thread. He paid 16 bucks for his 6-pack.

With Celebration being released and most likely being $2-3 cheaper a 6er, I will just get that when I see it. Too many mixed reviews for this beer.

Picked some up. Loved the first 1. Second was OK. Now it's kinda boring. Pretty looking, but bland.
