    Hello all,
I was hoping someone out there could answer a question for me. I am closing in on rating all the BA top 250 beers, and somehow Born Yesterday has just always eluded me. Since it's listed as a fall release I began looking for it in local stores, but could only find Born Again Yesterday. I know they have 2 separate listings on here, but are they actually different beers, or is Born Again Yesterday just a revival of the brand, and Born Yesterday is no longer released under that name? Thanks in advance for any help on this!
    Cheers!

    Tim

Born yesterday comes out once a year in October-ish, using fresh hops of that harvest.

Born Again yesterday comes out the following spring using the same hops that were frozen/ preserved. Hence "born again."

One is a beer. The other is an Evangelical beer with extra, extra long life. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn't suggest buying BAY at this point. It's been out for several months, and it wasn't even close to as good as last year's BY.

Born Yesterday should be coming out in the next month or so, if Heineken isn't changing things up over there at Lagunitas.

Yes definitely different beers. BY is superior, especially when fresh

Well it seems like my first question has been adequately answered! My next question would be, has it been released yet this year, and if so has it made its way to NJ or the east coast in general yet?

Yes, it has been released this year....back in April/May if I remember correctly.

If I were you I'd just wait a month or two for the "regular" Born Yesterday comes out. It is a much better beer, IMO.

    EDIT: use this

Born Yesterday has NOT been released yet. It has been an October release so be on the lookout. It is fantastic...and it sells fast.

I was asking about BY, not BAY, but thank you for the info! I was actually looking on beermenus yesterday, but it turned out the place that said they had it actually had BAY rather than BY, which is the main reason I made this thread!

I believe he was referring to Born Again Yesterday, which has already come and gone....

EDIT: Apologies for the confusion on my part. It should be released in a few weeks. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Last year I was drinking BY around October 26th. From bottling to store had a 5-7 day turnaround. Very small window to buy as it sells very fast.

Born Yesterday = If same as last years batch, will be by far the best IPA you can find from a regional/national distributor (IMO anyway)
Born Again Yesterday = a pretty darn good/one of the better IPAs you can find from a regional/national distributor in stores

Alright I finally get to try this sucker. A buddy of my brother's makes his own beer and said his tastes most like Born Yesterday. Tried the Born Again earlier this year and it was awful.

Although I never tried them side by side I like them both very much ! Guess I must be a minority.

I didn't like Born Again Yesterday even though it was "fresh". I am super stoked for the return of Born Yesterday this year. And NightTime just dropped, so I picked up a bottle of that today.

Not to put words in your mouth but...

Did the freezing of wet hops not 'work' for you? How would you describe the flavor profile of Born Again Yesterday (spring 2017) vs. Born Yesterday (fall 2016)?

    Cheers!

Wish I could tell you in more detail, but since both of them are from 6+ months memory... but from my recollection:

BY2016 - Very hop forward, little malt presence. Bright citrus flavors, some dankness, and rind bitterness.

BAY2017 - More resinous and "ordinary" tasting. A little booziness, and even some malty sweetness. I'll see if I can dig up my WBAYDN on it, but I was really turned off by it. I even had it on draught later on too, and it didn't change my mind.
