So I was super stoked when i got a 4 pack of PseudoSue, because i love Zombie dust so much. When I drank the pseudo sue i was slightly disappointed.
Has anyone else had this same style comparison not live up to the hype?

All stouts, IPAs, sours etc. are not created equal. Hype and expectations are a dangerous thing.

Summed it up well. Just because you love one highly rated beer in a style doesn't mean you'll like them all. A lot of beers you try won't live up to the hype and others will blow you away. Just keep trying new beer don't let the bad experiences keep you down.

"Slightly disappointed" isn't so bad. In a comparison, one beer is probably going to be better than another in your mind, so it sounds like they were close. However, if you thought the hype for PseudoSue was greater than ZD , thus the beer should have been better, then lesson learned.

To answer your question, I had PS at the brewery last year and was disappointed, but I also had some fresh bottles of that beer, and when I tried them after that had been in my fridge for 3 week, the beer tasted immensely better. So maybe your beers were too fresh. There are many craft beer enthusiasts who think that IPAs and Pale Ales begin to get their peak flavor 3-4 weeks after packaging, and I'm one of them.

I always laugh when Hop Stoopid is seriously compared to Pliny the Elder. Don't get me wrong... I get it. But no.

You had two of the most highly sought after beers, and you liked one more than the other? Nothing wrong here. Carry on. :grinning:

I'm the disappointed one, I can't get P-S or ZD here in my area.

David Walker of Firestone Walker seems to agree with you:

“Walker, upon taking his first sip of Union Jack in a can, noted that despite the “freshness craze” going around, he thought the beer was “a little young,” and when pressed noted that he likes his Union Jack, “aged about 45 days. It let’s the malt catch up a bit.”

Also, the Venice FW location is gonna be killer.
