The other day I noticed a couple of Natty Daddy flavored malt liquors in my local grocery store, which caused me to roll me eyes. I remembered that one was a berry flavor and I forgot what the other one was. No listing on BA.

But I noticed BA has listings for Labatt Max and Steel Reserve flavored malt liquors but they do not list Four Loko for example. There are also BA listings for the high alcohol Bud Light flavored series like Grape-ah-Rita. Are there guidelines for listing these flavored malt liquors and beers?

I'm not trying to start a riot with this post. I am simply curious.

You can just dump it in whatever category it would fall under normally, for example - Bud Light Lime-A-Rita:

There are some that would more aptly fall under spiced/herb beers like - Not Your Father's Rootbeer:

A while back there was some resistance to adding soda-beers to the website and there was some discussion as to whether a beer was a "beer" based on whether it was made with malt, etc. The discussion included things like ciders and how this was a beer website first and not a soda or cider website. I wish I could find the thread...

On a side-note, if you are going to add a beer then please take the time to add a review. If it's worth the time it takes to add the beer to the website, it's worth the effort it takes to buy and review the beer.

All of those described above could probably be described as 'glitzy' beers, but sometimes you find one that is 'ritzy' which is what I found when I bought a bottle of the Founders DKML Imperial Malt Liquor. It's bourbon barrel aged for its 'flavoring' and 14% abv, and damn is it good. The alcohol gives it some burn, but, c'mon, this is malt liquor (and an imperial version at that).

    ^^^THIS!
I would say not just review it, but take, resize & submit a picture. Also, if there is verbiage on the CAN or bottle, transcribe that for the "Notes/Commercial Description" section. Admittedly, I may not be immediate with my adds, but completeness is everything.

I try to do this but frequently my ability to add beers is much faster than my ability to decipher and write up my notes so there can be a lag of a few days to a couple of weeks. Same with the pictures and if the beer is only served in a taproom, I didn't think that a picture of a glass of beer was acceptable.

I can't question the decisions of others but if it's not made from mostly malt I won't add it or review it.

I think the notes/brewers description should be available as you enter a new beer vs having to submit an update.
