Hey again guys, im gonna make this quick. When i start brewing i decided to do it for myself, to brew the kind of beers i like, dark beers, malty beer, but as i move forward in this HB world more people are interested in what i do, but not many people like Stout, Brown Ale, Porter beers. So im looking for a recipe AG, i wanna make a beer that is fresh, not bitter, blonde or low IBU and easy to drink. Wheat beers come to my mind but i dont know what do you recommend and if you have a recipe that you wanna share ill appreciate.
When brewing a beer style for the first time, you could do a lot worse than using a recipe from the book Brewing Classic Styles. When brewing to style, the recipe is rather important, but don't forget that brewing process is also really important.
Have you browsed thru the recipe section of this forum? I have not brewed this, but here's a Hefeweizen recipe by @Lukass from that section that sounds very tasty. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/tropical-hefeweizen.306425/
Yeah i was looking in the recipe forum and didnt find anything like it. Now that i read more i think what im looking for is an American Blonde Ale or any Blonde Ale. But i cant find a good recipe to start with
Ok i just jumped in my brewbot to see if i can come up with something for what ive seen in the web, other recipes and all. Im not sure about the mashing Temp, first time brewing a blonde ale but people recommend this temperature 148F. I chose US 05 cos is what i have in my HBS, dont have california yeast but i think US05 works. Any comments any ideas any changes or suggestions are more than welcome. Im doing all grain, mashing and sparging and not going into a 2dary fermentation. Efficiency 70% Yeah Banshee i know but its the only name that came to my mind lol
Hop Blonde Ale Simple and good. I'll make it again with maybe more hops. ABV-4.99% 8 lbs American Pale 2 Row 1 lb White Wheat 1 lb Crystal Malt 10 L Yeast: WLP-001 Cali Ale----Safale us05 is also good. Hops: 2 oz Cascade-------1oz@60, 1/2oz@10, 1/2oz-dry hop 1 oz Williamette----1oz@5mins 1 oz Simcoe-------1/2oz@10, 1/2oz dry hop
Sounds good I would add an extra ounce of hallertau at 0 personally. Also might want to mix your water with distilled depending what you're waters like
Google "Centennial Blonde" for a recipe that is extremely popular on another site. It sounds like exactly what you are looking for. I made it recently and really enjoyed it.
This one looks good as well... I will probably be brewing it soon: http://brulosophy.com/recipes/brulosophers-blonde-ale/
Ok i looked at the centennial blonde and the recipe in the link but i have a question, dont you think that amount of cascade will be too much for a blonde ale? For what i read in the blonde ale style the hops are not suppose to be that important like a pale ale or ipa. Maybe citra in a small amount instead of cascade just to have some aroma but not much? What do you guys think?
At least in the recipe I linked, there is only around 3/4oz of Cascade, with most of that toward the end of the brew. Citra would be nice as well.
Really??? I've been trying to find a reason NOT to use Citra... It's so good. Honestly, I've used citra in have of the last IPAs I've brewed. It's really great, but there is a huge variety out there! I think I've convinced my wife IPA isn't terrible when citra is used!
It definitely doesn't taste like too much--I scaled it down to a 3 gallon batch, and my IBUs were around 20. The hops contribute to the flavor, but they very much take a backseat to the malt.
Well i guess this is it. Ill go with this blonde ale and take your advices. Tx again guys and ill let you know how this ends.
