Thanks Todd for the recognition. I agree, we all need to take the extra 1-2 minutes (or less) to rate/review beers on here but even more importantly, to add new beers and new places if they aren’t present yet. I just brought home some beers I bought in a bottle shop in Oakland back to MD, and had to enter a few of them as new beers before I could review. Beer Advocates need to step up. Shouldn’t be an out of state person entering retail distributed beers as new.

I better get busy! Review beer on a regular basis and start rating more places (I've done only one place review so far). I don't seem to get any likes on my reviews and I don't know how to change that so I'll have to work toward other ends for points. I'm only 161 points above threshold and don't want to lose my status.

Change your mindset. Don't review beers or do antying on here just to get likes. Review beers to help others and to help yourself (i.e. have a nice repository for all your beer statistics). The likes are just a bonus, not the priority.

 

Let's look to the future, BAs! Consider multiple incentives and classifications beyond Poobah status.

Your comments are much appreciated but you are preaching to the choir. I have never participated in any activity on this site with a "like" oriented mentality. I do it for myself and hopefully to a very minor degree the edification of others (as well as myself). I endeavor to hone my skills and participate with pleasure in what I consider to be an academic exercise. Mostly I want to share my experience. I had no idea how much weight "likes" carried in terms of karma until I read the recent post made by Todd and others. Assuming they did was the reason for my comment. Thanks again for your encouragement but I assure you "likes" have nothing to do with why I post my ratings and reviews.
