Just for clarity, Carlsberg is not a German beer, it's Danish.

I agree that the "Elephant" is not that good, but they do make better beers, with their "Export" standing out in my mind. They've also now got an unfiltered Pilsner that might be worth trying.

You ever see the 64 ouncers back in the day? I grew up on malt liquor as well although I never developed much of a nostalgia for it.

I've only seen pics of the 64oz bottles.

Smashing a 40oz sure was loud as hell, I could only imagine the sound those make. Probably akin to a small explosion. I've never dropped a growler before but I'm sure the resonance is pretty similar haha

Boston beer is rated super low here in BA, and I like pretty much all of their beers

Carlsberg is okay but their Elephant has seen better days.

Perhaps an ignorant question, but I am making turkey burgers tomorrow (homemade). Would you suggest adding beer to the turkey before cooking? Never tried that!

MIller Lite is actually pretty good and my go to when the budget is tight.

I am in love with Hamm’s. I am not saying it is as good of a beer as our craft choices but I enjoy it just as much. And sometimes I drive to Pennsylvania just to buy Narragansett.

I concur, obviously. I just went camping and brought a bunch of miller lite. Perfect when playing bocce ball, fishing and maintaining at the end of the night around the camp fire.

Coors Banquet, just works in so many situations and refreshes well during the summer heat.

I revisited a flavor from my youth when I used my last Danish krone to buy a can of Carlsberg Elephant at the airport in Copenhagen this summer. This experience confirmed pretty much what I remember about it. We were young. We wanted to get drunk and Elephant's high ABV for the era did the trick.

Trivia time. While looking through some castles there we learned that Denmark actually carved out a few small patches of India during the age of imperialism which explains Elephant Gate in Copenhagen and the naming of this beer.

i mean i'm no expert but i've dumped various beers on turkey burgers throughout the cooking process, mostly out of a drunken attempt to feel like i host a food network show, and it's always come out pretty nice. go wild and don't set your kitchen on fire

Cooper's pale ale. It's got only an OK rating on here, but I think it's really good. I don't count mass produced beers because I don't hate those beers I just find them rather boring.

A lot of the Mexican lagers -- Negra Modelo, Dos Equis, Carta Blanca, Bohemia, heck even Corona's not bad every now and then (had one at a restaurant last time my dad came to visit and it was actually pretty nice, even without a lime.) I'm honestly a bit surprised so many of these beers are only rated as "okay" on here, and though it's definitely not on the level of the others I mentioned Corona really doesn't deserve to be rated that low.

Also, PBR -- bonus points for being cheap, widely available, and being a beer my girlfriend also likes. We always have some in the fridge.

Agreed with Corona. Last time I had it it wasn't bad.

My main problem with Corona though, is that it seems to be the preferred beer of the stereotypical douchebags that I know in real life :stuck_out_tongue:

Back in my Pittsburgh college days, we would grab the 64 ouncers whenever we ventured into Ohio. For whatever reason, "fingers" of Old E weren't available in PA, but were in Ohio, so we'd grab a bunch for the novelty of it.

Miller High Life and Schlitz for me. Yup, its cheap beer but theres a time and place for even cheap beers (such as when Im outside doing yard work and want something cool and refreshing that wont get me buzzed if I had a couple).
