I visited Malta a couple weeks ago, and since there's not too much info in these forums about the country (@Redrover had a great post about Malta, but that was a couple years ago), I thought I'd share my experiences. I was only there for a couple days, but I managed to visit three breweries: The Brew is right on the main drag in Sliema, a short ferry ride from Valletta proper. It's a pretty classic pub (with a little cocktail bar vibe too), but the brewhouse is right there immediately next to the taproom so you know you're in a brewery. The beers are decent enough and it's certainly the closest-to-town brewery experience you can have. Lord Chambray is way out on the island of Gozo, which is itself a 45 minute ferry ride from Valletta, and absolutely worth a visit (you should be visiting Gozo anyway, it's great ). The taproom is small but it's right next to the brewing facility and Lord Chambray definitely makes the best beer I had in Malta. They package, too, so you can find their beers here and there around the country. The Chapels / Red Mill Brewing is kind of an odd place. The old Farsons brewhouse has been converted to event spaces and restaurants and stuff, with The Chapels being a bistro-type place in the building. It shares a space with the brewhouse for Red Mill, and I am pretty sure Farsons owns both. It's a cool enough place, but it would not be my first destination for great beer, unfortunately. The food is really good, though! I had beer from 5 or 6 breweries while I was there, and Lord Chambray and The Brew were definitely the best. I'd say that Malta is still not really much of a beer destination, but if you find yourself in the country (and you should go, it's lovely!), then there are a few decent craft options these days.
