I have had a few of these and have never adjusted my taste buds to actually enjoy them. Is this due to the fact that they are still an experiment with the brewing process? Or simply because the ingredients used to brew this style simply do not mix? What are your thoughts....?

Creature Comfort See the Stars for the win.

It's impossible for me to reach back a few years to make a direct comparison between it and Founders CBS. But my reaction to See the Stars was about the same as my reaction to CBS, which I thought was best beer I'd tried in over 15 years of craft beer consumption.

For me, the huge maple barrel aged stouts have a coconut profile on them that you wouldn't necessarily expect to find, but it's that coconut note that I enjoy the most.

Omnipollo BA Agamemnon is another nice one, too.

That's a pretty terrible example of a maple stout, to be honest. Do not judge the entire 'category' on that beer.
@Beertsipper, this beer is one you need to find. Sublime.

Maple Stout by Sierra Nevada if you can trade for it. Believe it was brewery only.

See the stars also had access to basically fresh barrels. The barrels were used by Willet for bourbon, then maple syrup for six months, then immediately see the stars. That is why the flavor is so good.

Pugachev's Cobra from H24 is for the real maple & bourbon lover. Last year's came in at 18.9% abv and imparted so much of the bourbon barrel it was insane! And obviously the maple worked really well in the brew. It comes out usually in Dec.

I've tried this so called Maple stout and failed to find the maple flavor that I was hoping it would hold coming from the state of Vt. Rockingham Brewery in Derry NH did a Maple Bacon Stout called I think the Beast last spring but it was growler only at the brewery and IMO it way out did the Maple breakfast Stout from 14th Star.

I made 5 trips to treehouse over 2 weeks during the most recent Good Morning release. I live an hour away and would do it all over again. As someone whose brewed with maple several times it's absolutely mind boggling how they extracted that much of the maple character while keep it to just a $12 750. I'll take 4 of those over a single MD any day of the week
